The folk tune "Julia Delany" as a step-hop just needed a soprano sax solo as a break from the tune, followed by an alto solo as a 32 bar break in the tune "The Curvy Road To Corinth".

Much to their surprise Martial Law won a local battle of the bands and the prize was a day in Pace Studio Milton Keynes. This was one of the two tracks recorded late in 1982. Martial Law were Ed Macerlane, vocals. Martin Hartup gtr/vocals. Dave Lockwood, gtr. Dave Pusey RIP keys. Bill Gammond, bass/vocals and Pete Lockwood, drums/vocals. A short-lived band...June 82 to May 83.

If you listen on headphones the "dummy head" stereo pair of microphones in the middle of the band might make you feel like you are sitting right in the middle of the amps and drums.

This song was written around 1985 and recorded on a Fostex 4 track cassette recorder. It was recorded back to front..ie the drums were recorded last and played along to a "click free" keyboards, sax & vocal recording. The bass line was played live whilst mixing the stereo keys/sax/vocal mix and the stereo drum tracks onto a standard cassette master tape. Make of it what you will. From the perspective of a Logic X user in 2022 I can only wonder at how I achieved it on just 4 tracks!

Vinyl released in 1989 on Rogue Records and 30th anniversary CD release in 2009. The three excerpt are Stony Brawl (Rasle) Rond Du Quercy (Trad arr Lockwood/Martin/Rasle) and Lunch In The Pub (Lockwood).
