Pete & Bren may possibly be the most influential group in electronic music that you have never heard of.

Active in the late 1990s, Pete & Bren (composed of legendary producers Pete Beat and Bren Dance) made their name with extraordinary remixes, mashups and original tracks which moved dancefloors from York to New York with their driving rhythms, funky basses and sampled hooks.

Although they always remained underground, and have certainly never become a household name, Pete & Bren have influenced many artists in the noughties and beyond, with their dance remixes and mashups being emulated by everyone from bedroom producers to artists such as Fatboy Slim.

Pete & Bren were influenced by many dance music artists of the 90s including Jam & Spoon and Faithless, but their tastes spread much wider to take in contemporary rock and pop music (from artists such as Paul Weller) and classics such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Bob Marley, all of whom featured in Pete & Bren remixes.
