The name SNES, inspired by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, is no coincidence. His passion for gaming led him to his very first Drum’n’Bass event back in 2007. As the soundtrack to a Mario Kart 64 contest, the fast-paced beats and deep bass instantly hooked him. It was also there that he met nice nine, then drummer of the live band «¡Bassda!».
Only a year later, SNES bought his first pair of turntables and stacked up on vinyl at the legendary record store «Freshcuts» (today known as «Analog»). Right across the street, in the underground club «CMC», he tested his setup – and even played his very first gig. After countless raves in Zurich, Aarau, Winterthur and beyond, it was the nights in St. Gallen that left the strongest impression. Soon after, he joined his first crew: the bEASTside.Crew from Eastern Switzerland.
With the closure of CMC in October 2014, an era came to an end. At the same time, the bEASTside.Crew quietly stepped back from the scene. For SNES, however, this was just the beginning: together with nice nine and OctaState, he founded the St. Gallen Drum’n’Bass label Local Bass Movement. Their mission: to push Drum’n’Bass in the region and connect like-minded people who share the same passion for the music. The first rave took place at the club «Tankstell» – still one of his favorite spots to this day. Over time, more DJs joined the crew: Leaneye, Anotha90sKid, Manitu and Phill Turner, all hailing from Eastern Switzerland.
Whether it’s smooth liquid tunes on a summer night or heavy-hitting neurofunk at 5 a.m. – SNES knows how to read the crowd and deliver exactly what they need. With his versatility and stage presence, he’s not only a driving force within Local Bass Movement but also a frequent guest at other crews and raves. Today, SNES stands as a key figure in the Eastern Swiss Drum’n’Bass scene.

To celebrate his debut release with SINE Audio (LNDN Sound EP) AFR has done a silky smooth bootleg of the classic 98 track on Prototype Recordings by Matrix - Mute '98.

Since the age of 13, the elusive AFR has been honing his craft in the field of electronic music production and keeping any up to this point locked to his own ears. Influenced largely from the 90s rave sounds of techno, house and jungle, as well as non-electronic music genres like punk rock and jazz, the now 19-year old producer has allowed himself to develop his own unique style of crisp, minimal and synth-ridden drum and bass. We are honoured to be hosting his first ever release in the form of the remarkable ‘LNDN Sound EP’.
