This was written for my neighbour, Benjamin Baker, while he was in an ICU with an intubator and in a coma with Covid 19. He is now on the road to recovery at home. This performance is beautifully played by Frankie Gallegos, a musician living in Belize.

My Handel-meets-whimsical-continental-film-score Isolation Prelude no. 1, written during the first British lockdown. Played fabulously by Franke Gallegos in Belize. She did two versions, one where she followed my instructions accurately and one where she did whatever she wanted to do. What you hear is her interpretation - who says the composer always knows best?!

'Music of the air' is how my 7-year-old daughter described the sound of this piece. 'Ariel', therefore, seemed a fitting title. One of my more ambitious pieces.

I am a composer of classical guitar music and a singer-songwriter. My influences range from Bach to Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) including Leo Brouwer, Kate Bush, The Beatles, Queen, Mike Oldfield, AC/DC, Fiona Apple, Andrew York, Rachmaninov, Philip Glass, Joni Mitchell, Jethro Tull, Beck and Radiohead. My music is melodically driven and always with a sense of song not far away. I have written two books of classical guitar music: a collection of English Folk Songs and British Christmas Carols, both for Mel Bay (2021).
