'Harmona' is the first single from Ichisan’s fourth studio album, which is due soon on Gouranga Music. It comes with two remixes by Dan Tyler of Idjut Boys and a brand new video created by illustrator Meta Wraber and director Anna Boberg, who has worked with the likes of The Chemical Brothers.
By now, Ichisan is a well-known talent in the world of disco house. The Slovenian is a skilled guitarist and brings his musicality to bear in all his tunes. He counts the likes of Prins Thomas and Pete Herbert as fans and has released numerous EPs and LPs on labels like Nang, Bordello A Parigi and Eskimo.
The fantastic 'Harmona' is a Balearic disco jam with a filtered Moog-style melody, a funky synth bassline and lush flanger-strings. It overflows with colour and charm and is the sort of dance floor dynamite that always takes things to the next level. Remixer Dan Tyler of Idjut Boys is well known for cooking up left of centre and dubbed out house with plenty of disco influences. Firstly, he adds his wonky tape delay and signature flange over the main theme to take it in a new direction. He also offers an Acid Casualty mix that is more gnarly and perfect for darker dance floors.
The accompanying video sees the watercolour paintings of Meta Wraber brought to life by Anna Boberg. Meta is Ichisan’s partner, and a successful illustrator. Anna is a wizard with after-effects and a notable animator - a dream team for this blissful track!

Flash Atkins is a drunkard, drug user and general wrong’un. A super hero who has fallen from his purple patch in the 80s to purples stains on his pants in the 00s where he now lives in a campervan in a field in Yorkshire.

He is also the alter go of Paper Recordings’ Ben Davis and Levenshulme Orphanage For Boys is the first single from his forthcoming album Paper album “The Life and Times of Flash Atkins”. Each track title is named after a chapter of a short story to be published as an accompaniment to the long player.

Levenshulme Orphanage For Boys is a slo-mo tech heavy chugger that is locked down with rock sold beats and a throbbing side-chained bass. The track builds with synth lines before a sampled female vocal brings in some sparse melody and reinforces the hypnotic rhythm. An acid line adds to the tension before the reaching it’s peak with all the elements hitting home.

The Deaf Boys Dub goes down a more stripped back route with a Moog synth riff and techy hats along with the sampled vocal. A ricocheting snare heralds the arrival of the sub and things crank up a gear. It’s proper 4am lose yourself in the smoke club music as the synth riff filters in and out.

Doc L. Junior is a Norwegian legend who’s not been active for a few years but is back with a wallop. Deep, synthy and a hint of 80s, this is big room music that brings to mind So Get Up by Underground Sound of Lisbon.

Finally, Richard Seaborne turns in a classic sounding remix recalling Armand Van Helden in his prime. He ups the pace, adds a brutal bottom end, chucks in a jazz break on top of the acid and vocal and it’s dance floor dynamite.

Music for Swimming Pools proudly presents it’s first release, and who better to get the ball rolling than Reverso 68.. Label honcho Pete Herbert and long time musical partner Phil Mison come together with three new tracks and a rework of their first ever release “Piece Together’ from over a decade ago.

Originally released on Specialist Interest Recordings and then promptly picked up by Eskimo Recordings who gave the Part two version exposure to a wider audience, we thought it was about time Part One was given a new mix down and polish.. and the results are superb..  a freshly served version of this seminal mid tempo afro/80’s inspired monster..

And onto the new productions, Red Day heads straight down italo alley with slo mo chunky drums and large synth action ahoy.. Buzara rolls into typical  Reverso territory, with a nod to Frontera Del Ensueno with grainy flamenco guitars, loose percussion and old school house synths for the dance floor.. and finally Orange Sky rounds things off with one hell of a deep afro percussive hypnotic groove….. We recommend you test the water..
