Another fantastic Black Light Disco show on www.myhourseradio.fm on Monday 12th April 2020. Not only did we have the Pookie Knights lads laying down some serious disco grooves for the first hour (including cheeky drops of their own reworks), for the second half of the show we had the cherry on top of all cakes, a very special guest mix from none other than Monsieur Van Pratt! 

MVP - aka Jesùs Rodrigez is a musician, producer and DJ from México whose talents seem to know no bounds. Jesùs is also the label owner and head honcho of the super-cool @superspicyrecords. This label has been extremely important to Black Light Disco so it was our absolute pleasure to have Jesùs on the show. The way MVP mixes vibes from the late seventies disco, eighties funk and the catchy rhythm of jazz, creates a very unique sound and very groovy atmosphere. He has been performing all around Mexico in several cities, clubs, parties and stages, having the chance to share scenario with major names on the music industry such as James Richardson (MGMT), Thris Tian (Boiler Room), Jupiter, Thieves Like Us, Vagabundo Club Social, Hotmood, The Funk District, Mike Simonetti, Gledd, Clubz, Shiro Schwarz, and so many more. If there’s anyone who prompts the question “When does he find time to make that?” it’s serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq. For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
