For a 2020 fresh start we welcome back our label's head honcho 'The Funk District' with a brand new contribution on this Disconstucted EP consisting on four disco-constructed or deconstructed blends with a deep touch to it. As a starter 'Stuck On The Line' comes in the form of an intense funky jam filled with groovy piano chords, a powerful bassline and lots of funky guitars making it an exceptional cut for peak hours. Right next to it 'Melas' shows up as a heavy-weight sampled gem with a melancholic taste and an outstanding guitar solo attached to profound synths and energetic vocal chops. On the other side 'The Horn feat. Sokur' is a contribution with former Argentinian Piano Man: Sokur, bringing spice and a tropical flavor to the release with his outstanding musical approach in this afro-latin cut. As for the final act 'Abstract Love' arrives with sexy disco vocals and deep infused synths turning it into a house classic anthem ready to hit the dance floor. Stay tuned for more !!

Based out of Eugene, Oregon, Rortron started DJing and producing at the beginning of 2018. It was after getting laid off from his job that he decided to purchase a controller and start learning how to mix. Since then, he has fallen in love with providing good vibes on the dance floor and in your headphones and home speakers. He has DJ’d all over his hometown at places like The Big Dirty, Sam Bond’s, Cowfish, Thinking Tree Spirits, and many others.

His enthusiasm for dancing and appreciating amazing shows has shaped him to always make his sets and performances memorable. He realizes it’s about the people in the crowd and creating a selection of hospitable vibes that invite you to come back for more.

Rortron is the kind of guy you can feel comfortable introducing to your parents. He is always moving and smiling when he DJ’s. He will never be pretentious and patronizing to anyone who comes to his shows or listens to his mixes and music. He always shows love to the sound, security, bookers, and bartenders. Always the consummate professional, he is keenly aware that people come to shake their asses and have a good time. He is eternally grateful for the opportunity to DJ and spread joy.

If ever there was someone who the phrase “How does he find time to make that?” was about, serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq is it. His reworks have been played on BBC Radio 6 regularly by Craig Charles, and DJs the world over, and the sheer number of tracks he produces have caused people to suggest he doesn't sleep much.

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside  the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others. 

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born. 

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running. 

November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year. 

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You.
