The Disco Police is well known for their extensive editing career where they perfected the techniques needed to maximize the dance floor dynamics of a song whilst adhering to its original spirit. 
Their version of disco house music is a rich, percussive concoction, taking in their musical traditions as well as their beloved Chicago house, and blending elements of funk soul, jazz and disco into rich rhythmic collages, all held down by adept production touches.

So, bit of a story with this one. In 2007 I made an edit on a dodgy computer, not understanding much about what I was doing. I used Candi Staton's Nights On Broadway.  The track went....mental. Its been used on  compilations with the likes of @daveleezr and @lcd-soundsystem. It has probably been my most successful track ever.
So I've avoided remaking it with new technology until now. 
I used the same loops, but given a 2022 makeover. New FX, drums, arrangement, tempo. Anyways, hope you like.

V’s Edits was everywhere when I started shopping on Juno Download. Behind the enigmatic moniker I found an accomplished musician, arranger and electronic wizard that is Valentine Golovachev. He was one of the very first artists I featured on this blog and I have had the pleasure of interviewing him under the most difficult setup I have tried yet, with great delays and tribulations on a platform that was new at that point, called Telegram. What a pain that was. Valentine handled it like the boss he is. 
He’s let me know, that this track probably is the last disco influenced rework under the V’s moniker. If that proves true this is truly a legendary offering even more so.

Dating back to 2003, Groove Junkies’ Evan Landes & Solara have collaborated on some of MoHo’s most endearing classics including "Deeper," "Sunshine," "Perception" and "We Rise" among many others. This time they team up w/ the incredibly talented Will ‘Reelsoul’ Rodriquez on a gorgeous, soulful gem aptly titled "For Those Who Know" (FTWK). 

All three have masterfully infused their distinct individual ‘flava’ to the project. The ‘Groove N’ Soul Vocal Mix’ oozes with vibe and atmosphere. Reelsoul and GJs sublime production & arrangement serve as a perfect foundation to Solara’s ultra cool, alluring vocal. FTWK is a nod to kinder, simpler days where brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers from all cultures are welcome. ENJOY!

Richie Weeks has been very influential to me and no matter the few releases during the early 80's, Weeks & Co is a prime example of disco-synth, proto-boogie, electro-jam action. 
I tried bringing in some more drums ,percussion and effects to get a modern feel while preserve and extend the original groove. @  118 BPM.

Ashford & Simpson - It Seems To Hang On (Pete Le Freq Refreq)

If ever there was someone who the phrase “How does he find time to make that?” was about, serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq is it. His reworks have been played on BBC Radio 6 regularly by Craig Charles, and DJs the world over, and the sheer number of tracks he produces have caused people to suggest he doesn't sleep much.

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside  the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others. 

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born. 

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running. 

November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year. 

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You.
