This episode of the Black Light Disco show is dedicated to the life, music and memory of our good friend Stephen Richards, who sadly passed away on 8th November 2025. 

So much has been written and said about Stephen since the tragic news broke - so many individual stories of how he connected people and gave a platform to a host of producers, artists and DJs out there who otherwise may not have had their voices heard or their talent recognised. There is so, so much more to be written, shared and remembered and for this show we have a selection of some of our favourite tracks of Stephen's as a tribute - lovingly put together by Cole Kutz. We'll let his music do the talking.

Feverball Radio Show 310 with Ladies On Mars and Plastic Royale

This week's show was a more up-tempo affair, with lots of disco energy and joy.  During my first hour I also played my latest track, "Show Your Moves`", which is out on the Pink Funk label this coming Friday :-)

It’s WEEK 29 of The Disco Waltons Mix Sessions — and back on deck is the Merseyside marvel himself, Ste Hendry, aka Esteban.

Straight outta Liverpool, Esteban is a wordsmith, a curator, a full-blown vibe engineer. He’s been at this for over 31 years, catching the bug during the wild acid-house days of the late ’80s. back when the clubs were heaving, the jeans were ginormous, and if you didn’t lose at least one mate in the strobe light… was it even a night out?

Rooted deeply in disco and electronica, Esteban’s heart beats to those early Chicago and Detroit house cuts that slipped into UK dancefloors back when vinyl weighed more than a wee baw-baws. By the early ’90s he’d made the hop-be-bop from dancefloor to DJ booth, taking on residencies and guest slots all across the North West, from sticky-floored basements to nights where the smoke machine had absolutely no chill. pstpssssp…

These days, he’s best known as the founder and resident DJ of Black Light Disco — that glowing beacon of funky, house, and disco-drenched goodness. Whether on radio or smashing gigs across the UK and his second home here in itty-bitty Ireland, Esteban always brings pure feel-good mischief.

BK began his DJ journey back in 1994 at Club Plastique, going on to build a solid reputation through long-running residencies across Germany, including Desperados and Friday Night Club at Kobra Moers.

Just before the pandemic, BK launched the global DJ community “The Art of Edits” now a respected hub for DJs and collectors focused on reworks, edits and creative club tools. His SoundCloud mix series — The Love Edits, Pop Art and Yacht or Not Edits — have become go-to listening for edit lovers worldwide.

In 2022, he played an official ADE event in Amsterdam alongside fellow Disco Waltons, and since then had leaped into live radio. taking Alongside his wife Jasmin (@houseofJayKay) for the journey, the bi-weekly “Couple Show” on NDC Radio, was great at delivering a refined blend of disco, house, edits and laid-back groove , always high quality, always full of global listener love. and WhatsApp chat banter, we need some more duo shows like this

If there’s anyone who prompts the question “When does he find time to make that?” it’s serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq. For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
