IIT RADIO SHOW Ep 259 AFTERS

It's just two weeks until the 25th Anniversary of Kinky Malinki. It's a night that I never lost any love for, having been one of the founders, a co-promoter and resident DJ.  It has a place firmly in my heart, and always will have.

Having fell in love with house music at 14 years old in 1987 (I am that old), it was written in the stars that I would eventually be running my own night.  Before Kinky Malinki I'd been hosting small local parties in the basement of restaurants, out growing them before packing out the Park in Kensington. That was my last party before Kinky Malinki was born.

I no longer am running the party anymore, but I'm so happy to be back as part of the crew and DJ'ing at the Anniversary.  I hope this party is the start of something special again, because the night really was too good to not be in clubland.  I'm really proud of what Paul went on and achieved and that he's had the courage to bring it back to London's club scene.

This mix is about energy.  It's about those hands in the air moments where you can forget all about life and immerse yourself into the music, with your eyes closed and the music swirling around your head, as if you're in a different dimension (well, that's what house music does to me).

Kinky Malinki was always about the music, from its creation in 1998 at The Inperial Gardens in Camberwell.  After that it was The Ministry, The Glasshouse,The Aquarium, Pacha and Turnmills - all in the early 2000's.  Every night was full to capacity.
