Became the Bride of Christ. 

Alexandria was your home,
For your life of sin. 
Till you wanted to roam,
And went to Jerusalem. 
The Church of the Sepulcher
You could not enter
O St. Mary

You were saddened deeply,
By your transgressions,
So you asked St. Mary,
For her intercessions. 
You were forgiven,
You entered in,
And crossed the Jordan. 

You lived as a hermitess,
In repentance and tears.
In the heart of the wilderness,
For 17 whole years.
Satan came with temptation,
You overcame him,
O St. Mary. 

After 45 years had passed,
You finally saw someone,
He came during the great fast,
Abba Zosima the monk. 
You told him your story,
From shame to glory. 
You asked him to return. 

He came after one year,
To give you communion. 
You received him with great cheer,
A joyful reunion. 
You asked him again,
To return then,
O St. Mary. 

When one year had passed by,
Abba Zosima found,
You, blessed saint, had died,
A note written on the ground. 
“Bury Mary in the dust,
Which she was made of.”
A lion stood guard. 

Zosima saw the beast,
Who stood peacefully. 
Then wondered the priest,
How to bury your body. 
The lion dug a grave,
The monk was amazed,
O St. Mary

O Holy Bride of Christ,
Pray for our sakes,
That God may help us rise,
From our mistakes. 
The day is far spent,
Guide me to repent,
O St. Mary
