Perhaps the best and the worst place to dance would be on an airport runway at night.  

It would be awesome--because you're dancing outside, because an airport has a bunch of lights (some of them even move around) and because an airport runway is loud.  And loud is good, right?  (Right?  Hello?  Are you answering me?  I'm sorry, I blew my ears out during 20+ years of being a nightclub dj...I've got permanent tinitus, so you'll have to speak up.)  

It would be awful because...well, planes would be taking off and landing right where you're dancing.  You could get run over (bad), you could get blasted into the air by jet wash (probably not as cool as it sounds like it would be), or you could sucked into a jet engine (which might be better than a wood chipper, but not by much.)  

I was always a club person--as a punter and as a dj.  I only went to one legitimate warehouse rave...and never got to go to any outdoor rave or illegal orbital parties.  So, I'm guessing what's in my head (visualized in the thumbnail for this latest Interbay track) likely isn't what it would actually be like.  (I would think that so many multicolored lights would be, at the very least, distracting for pilots.)  

Interbay is a curious thing.  For as much electronic music I make, for as much "dance" music I make...I don't really make much electronic dance music--not in the formulaic, consistent, somewhat cookie cutter-ish ways that seem to have been popular for the last 20 or so years.  (Most notably, after I'd stopped dj'ing--so, I could be completely wrong about this...but it's MY description, so I'll assume I'm right.  You can correct me with a comment.)  

Interbay songs lurch in unexpected directions, they don't build tension and then release that tension with an effective (and, too often, by the numbers) drop...  Honestly, Interbay songs, especially the dance oriented ones, fell more like a mix of various records in the style that I used to like to spin when I was dj'ing.  I wanted novelty, I wanted surprises, I wanted to smush all kinds of things together to keep everyone on their toes and entertained.  

(Perhaps the only thing that only rarely is included would be backspins.  Oh, I was known for dropping a bunch of backspins into my mixes...some might say "annoyingly so.")  

This track is still an Interbay track--clearly, they will always sound more like Interbay than anything (or anyone) else.  But, there are some choices made here that aren't typical for what I've been producing.  You get the vocal hook immediately.  You don't get any snares (until, possibly, the end...but certainly none where you'd expect me to have put snares.)  The vibe is minimal rather than the kitchen sink that most Interbay tracks tend to be.  

I like it.  I hope you do too!  Give it a listen.  Hell, give EVERY Interbay track a listen (might take you a few days--there's a deep back catalog here. ;) )
