I made this record almost completely of sounds recorded on my terrible cell phone during my morning runs in and outside of of Taipei and Khaosiung, Taiwan with a bit of Osaka, Japan thrown in. Khaosiung is an industrial port city on the southern end of Taiwan. It was an outpost for colonial Japan during the early 20th century. The City of Khaosiung have created a nice arts park out of the old Japanese shipping warehouses, which also adjoins an area where the Taiwanese Coast Guard (i.e. Navy) parks their boats. The area screams with the sounds of waves and water and giant hulking boats grinding against rubber and metal. It is also tropical, so there's the added combo of diverse insect and birds sounds and the occassional elderly person in the morning.

Dead Island is made from the sounds of a floating pier grinding against its support posts and a concrete wall, a piece of metal blowing in the wind against a bridge, and a gurgling drain pipe in the Khaosiung Arts Park in Khaosiung, Taiwan. All sounds recorded on a Galaxy S28 cell phone using the onboard microphone. The track was created on an Elektron Digitakt.

While digging thru old boxes, we or more specifically, David Connell had hidden in Johnny Carss basement, this old Release demo.
Contained three 3 songs that were later rerecorded for 1990's THE RELEASE album.  Release / S.C.E.X. / Willliam Wilson.  Also had one hidden bonus track that didn't make it to the album...... perhaps we should post it?
