Prequel's back with more of the soulful, jazz-tinged productions that got our attention first time round with his debut EP, our 3rd release: 'POLITE STRANGERS'. The record proved a hit with the likes of Gilles Peterson, Osunlade, Recloose, Mister Saturday Night, Ben UFO and garnered a cult following amongst music lovers, spreading the word of the label farther afield in the process. 
Holding the fort as Rhythm Section ambassador down under, Prequel has stepped things up for his sophomore EP, incorporating spoken word, subtle vocal lines and the same instrumental flourishes that drew us in the first time round. 
This is a record with a message, a record that speaks from the soul, an homage and above all a very serious artistic statement.

We feature ‘Hope Circuitry’, a twin movement opening track that starts the EP off with a dreamy introduction of gospel vocals and a soulful piano. Loure then flips the switch on the track and roots it firmly on thedancefloor with a big funk bassline and re-chopped samples of itself.

Brazilian label Yellow Island has scored the next EP from LA/NYC native See Other, who you probably remember from his storming 'Linda EP' on Lobster Theremin last year-ish. Three late night hazy jams to lose yourself in. Window Open's frenetic jazzy drums are counter balanced with sweeping cosmic synths, trumpet riffs and one hell of a pan pipe section. We just love the otherworldly rabbit hole this EP transports you down.

"This compilation album is a tribute to 'Sophbeck' the club in Leicester which held the heart of the underground scene together here. It was our home for 5 years hosting The Groove Stage club nights. Last year (2018) Sophbeck shut its doors for the last time. This club was a very special place in Leicester so we thought it was only right we dedicated a mixture of sounds from the label. Long Live 8-10 King Street"

Up next is ‘Streets’ a smokey Jazz number effortlessly layered with sultry vocals, brushed drums and sweet sweet brass instrumentation.

‘The Beauty Was Always Us’ starts off the B sides with it’s thumping kick that melts away once the gorgeous strings, muted trumpet & pianos come in. Spoken word phrases are complimented by frenetic drum programming and a walking live bassline.

Finishing the EP is ‘Ruminate In Blue’. A smoothed out breakbeat rhythm underpins the deepest of deep chord movements. Blues inspired guitar licks and dubbed out soulful vocals shine alongside Shaun Rammers’ amazing Sax skills. 7 minutes in Heaven.
