DJ, producer and record collector Trujillo’s trajectory from Venezuela to Berlin is as colourful as his music. His well-honed sense of soul, disco and tropical 80s house rhythms comes paired with an unparalleled devotion to digging up dusty dance floor heat. 

Trujillo grew up in Merida, Venezuela, where records were a part of daily family life. His grandfather opened the city's first modern art museum and had a longstanding tradition of playing classical music everyday at lunchtime. His father had a vast collection of 60s and 70s rock and gifted Trujillo his first record when he was five years old and he’s never looked back. 

He wrote some words about his mix:

“During the last few months, I’ve been touring paradise islands in the Caribbean. Every day, I used to go to shell beach, a place with a magic view, just the perfect spot for watching the sunset and the waves dancing to the rhythm of my playlists, while dreaming to come back playing for crowds. On my return to Berlin, I decided to put together all these musical memories in a mix which I called Dreamwaves. When my good friend and fellow digger Danny asked me to join the exquisite Idle Cellar’s podcast series, I thought this would be the perfect summer soundtrack for enjoy a good glass of wine whilst watching the sunset.”

Steve Lee : The End Is Just The Beginning

Intimate Listening Session @ Hosoi December 3 2017

It's no secret that Japan has produced some of the finest meditative sounds, from the environmental music of Hiroshi Yoshimura to the warm synths of Haruomi Hosono. 

Ken Hidaka, Max Essa and Dr. Rob are three friends and deep digging collectors who've been immersed in these sounds for years, through writing, DJing or throwing their long-running monthly listening party at Bar Bonobo in Harajuku. 

Together they have charted the history of Japanese chillout and downtempo music from 1988 to 2018 on a compilation for Music for Dreams 'Collectors' series, titled Oto No Wa. Each track is the result of friendships and physical connections, mapping out the development of chilled sounds, from ambient to electro-acoustics, post-house and balearic.
