Why the name ‘’Futuro’’?

Back in 2011 our name was "Pentagoni et quadratto" but it was too long, so we decided to change it in the summer of 2012. Raúl wrote a list with different names and we thought Futuro could be a good one. "It is a word full of hope" he said.


What was the feeling with your first synthesizer?

Javier: I bought a Microkorg in 2006. Due to my lack of knowledge I just pressed the arpeggiator button at the shop and I decided to buy it inmediately; I guess it was the right decision.

Raúl: A lot of despair, it was a 1985´s Casio CZ 5000, REALLY hard to program. I sold it as soon as I could to buy a Roland Juno 106 (when they were still affordable)


Are people still thinking that Alboroto LP was from 80’s?

We don't think so...


What happened with that?

You should ask Otto Kraanen... he just wrote the whole story, which obviously was not true, he thought it could be funny, and we agreed... but it seems that some people believed it.


Favorite synthesizer?

J: Yamaha DX7

R: MFB Dominion. I bought it with the inheritance from my grandpa when he died. Thank you grandpa.


How is the process when you create a new track?

J: all of a sudden a melody appears in my mind. Normally I start with the bass line, then the rythm and so on... I usually work on every song very hard and after some days I leave it. It is very important to listen it again after one week or so, in order to see if everything still works or not.


What was the first record that you bought?

J: "L.A. Woman" of The Doors, my favourite group for a while. I think it was in the summer of 96.

R: U2 - Zooropa. I was 10 years old and all that technological sounds here and there seemed stunning to me.


Who was the first musician to influence you?

J: I guess Ray Manzarek woke up my interest for keyboards...

R: It was the full continental Europe underground synth bands scene from 1980 -1983 that released one glorious 7” for posterity and then disappeared for ever.


Do you think the italo world is dead or do we live in a new italo scene era?

Italo was always there. In the 80s was more popular than now, but anyway, as the song says, "only music survives" and it doesn't matter when or how many people dance. Music is an immortal feeling.


What do you think about the new italo producers?

It is nice to see how many are interested in this kind of music. But we miss more people focused in what we understand as pure "italo".


What is your favorite vinyl in your collection?

J: Paul Ray - Doin' the best I can

What does art mean to you?

Something you need to do not just for money, but for passion, where other people can recognize some kind of beauty.

Is there some news about Futuro releases?

A remix for Synergic Silence with Fred Ventura  out now vinyl with Blanco y Negro , and we have a lot of new songs which should see the light of day as soon as possible!
