Coming through with Mantissa Mix 199 is Estonian based Steffan Todorović. Head of upcoming label's Coymix, Gestalt, and Hidden Assets as well as being one half of Abdul Raeva, he's given us a high energy, club focused mix stretching for just over an hour. 

'This mix is just a bunch of records and files I really dig. This was pretty improvised so it's all over the place stylistically, which is quite unlike how I usually do mixes. Just felt an urge to roll out some of my favorite fatty basslines'

Before relocating to Vancouver, Overland sharpened her skills in the snowy expanses of Alberta, Canada. A tireless DJ and promoter, she’s hosted a score of all-nighters and club events across the city, making her mark as an enthusiastic booster of a vibrant scene.

Her tracks embody her DJ sets, a frenetic fusion of classic acid techno with fresh rave sensibilities, both razor-sharp and mind-expanding in the same breath. Her ability to connect scenes and sounds from across the globe found fertile soil quickly, and releases followed on Los Angeles-based Helpful Music, Lisbon’s finest purveyor of peak-time heaters, Naïve and New York’s Sweat Equity.

Belgium based Cleveland ( @clevelandmusicpage ) presents a beautifully diverse mix for Animix thirty-seven. Strung together with consistently driving percussion, in his signature style, the mix spans between uk bass, idm-y chords and bouncy tech house.. a match made in dancefloor heaven :') 

Cleveland has a bunch of releases on Hivern Discs, ESP Institute and most recently a great EP on @kalaharioystercult,having made himself a mainstay in the European scene for quite some time now.

Since the inception of his solo career, Italian born Luca Cazal has achieved much in a short space of time. With an impressive discography across a variety of aliases, including the hugely successful Infinity Ink, Hot Natured and Luca C.& Brigante groups, he’s released via household names: Classic Music Company, Crosstown Rebels, Southern Fried to name a few. In the studio, Cazal draws from a deep well of inspirations that spans Electro, Dub and the classic house and Techno heritage of his homeland. Pair this with an unwavering obsession for hardware and flair for live performance to get a sense of the distinct personality captured in Cazal’s productions.
An avid digger and record collector, whilst humble, driven and devoted to the craft, Cazal is completely at home during both peak time and long-form sets. As an international DJ, he makes regular stops at club culture’s most lionised spaces including Fabric, Club Der Visionnaire, Panorama Bar and of course Ibiza’s DC10 of which he’s been a longstanding resident for, now over seven years and counting.
Constantly evolving, Cazal took first forays into label owning in 2014, first establishing Double Drop with long-term peer Brigante, followed by its See Double offshoot. Since launching both labels have offered material from bastions of the scene: Ivan Smagghe, The Mole, Boris Werner and more, across releases still championed amongst house and techno luminaries.

This was evident when she joined us in January at Sensu for her Sub Club debut. The music was warm, inviting and expertly selected. Solid proof that house music is very much alive and heading in a positive direction.

Paris based producer and DJ S3A, an abbreviation of Sampling As An Art, started his love affair with electronic music in the mid nineties when rave culture was in full flight across Europe, it was around then he picked up his first pair of Technics turntables, begun collecting vinyl and made his first productions which leant towards the techno and rave influences he’d been taking in during this time.

In 2010 he returned alongside Zadig for a collaborative project called Friendship Connection which focused on dusty, dub-tinged Techno sounds before 2012 saw him inaugurate the S3A project via Parisian institution Syncrophone’s Phonogramme imprint and his forays into the world of funk-infused, sample heavy House begun. The core aesthetic of the S3A sounds was to take jazz funk into the future with the help of disco rhythms and contemporary electronic music sounds.

Not long after, recognition came from the highly acclaimed now defunct Paris club Concrete and he found himself a resident of one of the clubbing hotspots across the globe, a perfect stomping ground to further establish himself and his sound over the years. He now holds a residency at the revered Rex Club in Paris. 

Since then S3A has gone on to release an array of material across imprints such as Local Talk, Times Are Ruff, Lazare Hoche Records, Concrete Music, Quartet Series, a remix of Laurent Garnier on Musique Large and his debut album ‘Pages’ in 2019 on Dirt Crew Recordings. Not to mention his very own Sampling As An Art Records which stands as a platform for his own material and has also released music from the likes of Byron The Aquarius, Llorca, Sweely and more.

@sheepshead-music is a DJ and the mind behind the Newtype Rhythms mix series on Inverted Audio, which doubles as a party series at Jupiter Disco and other NYC venues. He's also one of the curators of Unsound Festival, occuring annually in Krakow, Poland as well as organizing one-off events in other cities worldwide. A versatile DJ, his mix for us covers all the bases: from dreamy dub chords to downright rude bass.

"The mix was recorded at home on my Pioneer XDJ-RX; it was made during a period of meandering energies - as I had just gotten my first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine and anxiously awaiting the slow-but-steady incline towards more of my friends, family and community getting access to it as well.

The coalescence of tracks came together through periods of anxiety, but ultimately I wanted the mix to represent a cautious re-emergence towards the collective consciousness looking forward to the future of losing our communal shit on a dancefloor."
