To the dedicated few and the newly dedicated, this is a celebration laced with appreciation. The cause for this - we’ve reached a modern-day milestone. We’ve made it to 30 (which is a total of about 3 in podcast years). Honestly, I never thought I'd make it to 30, but I soon came to realise how much good music is out there, and how I should use my powers for good rather evil, so here we are. 

For this momentous occasion, we have a very fitting transmission. Something that he and I have been working towards for the last two years. The man responsible for an audible gift from the gods is none other than Andy Hart himself, aka the slug face millionaire aka choices from the lake aka undies. I call Andy not only a good friend but also a good inspiration, a good breath of fresh country air, a good dose of realism and just a flat out good person. I’ve lived with him, I’ve traveled with him and I’ve shared more than a towel with him. I can comfortably say that Andy will be at my wedding, my funeral and everything in between. 

This mix is the perfect summary of the journey so far. I'd like to think we’ve explored quite a lot over the last couple of years, and I'd also like to think that there’s so much more out there. This perfectly woven galactic tapestry transcends every aspect that you think you know about most things and rewrites the rest. The culmination of many years of putting tracks aside has paid off immensely. The thought and the planning behind this mix actually baffle’s me. It’s the perfect narrative without the narrative, a story without words, a tale of triumph. I may sound a bit dramatic but you obviously haven’t listened to it yet. Just shy of 4 hours, this is the perfect soundtrack to your life in general. It transcends not only stages of the day but also stages of your mind. I'm yet to find the perfect moment/space to listen to it but I think a long drive back from a really good holiday would fit perfectly - or just a cruisey Sunday spring afternoon at home.

Bulgarian DJ & producer Gallya is one of the newest and most interesting names in techno. Whether a rolling techno bassline or a dynamic film score project, Gallya’s ability to consistently churn out dark and immersive yet vibrant tracks has made her a force to be reckoned with in the scene. In 2015, she launched her own label ‘Set About’ in partnership with Metodi Hristov. Though it’s only a few years old, Set About is already touted as one of the most highly respected labels in techno, releasing artists like GusGus, Hatzler, Teenage Mutants and Maksim Dark. The label has given her a platform not only to release her own music, but to share that platform with techno artists that she’s passionate about from all over the world. Gallya’s breakthrough moment in 2016 was her nomination of Beatport’s Top Tech House Artist. By releasing a slew of highly successful EPs on labels like Set About, Off Recordings, Kinetika, Deeperfect, and El Row Records, she broke through noise and placed herself at the forefront of mind-bending techno and dark, driving tech-house. Through label showcases in South America and Europe, Gallya was able to take her talents on the road to build a strong, international fan-base. Her evolution into a well-respected and sought after techno act continued through 2017, as she dropped EPs like Detroit, Felicity, and Control on Set About, Funk’n Deep Records and Say What? Records respectively. Each EP carved the way for an even bigger, more distinctive sound. The title track of her March 2017 EP Machines broke the Beatport Techno Top 100, peaking at #16, and remained in the charts for an entire month. “Machines” gained the support of top techno DJs including Deadmau5 who played it in BBC Radio One residency, which led to Gallya signing to his label mau5trap for several 2018 releases. Along with the popularity of “Machines” in the DJ world, it was also picked up for a scene in a major movie – this opportunity fueled Gallya inspiration to work on some longer-term production goals of scoring horror movies. Through continued growth in 2018, Gallya hopes to push her boundaries even further through both music and touring worldwide. With her debut mau5trap EP, a collaboration with Juliet Fox on Set About, and an EP with Metodi Hristov on Octopus Recordings already under her belt, she continues to be one of the hardest working, most prolific and promising sounds in techno.

One of our favourite underground heroes from Berlin, the ultimate digger-selector known as Estimulo - with his long-running, cult-status online show of the same name - has delivered an intense payload of his records in an impeccably blended mix for Avenue Red. This man is a real treasure of the underground: almost unknown beyond it, yet widely known and loved within it.

Now and since Avenue Red began in 2013, one of the impressum lines reads: "We aim to push DJ's and artists based solely upon the quality of their output, the refinement of their taste and their dedication to the music.". Trust us, you really cannot go wrong with this guy if this is the criterion you're truly here for. We will not attempt to categorise or define anything further, so Estimulo takes over from here using a few words and about 20 unreal sonic shurikens. Let the bass kick!!

"My preferred way of approaching a mix is in the most personal way I can. In times when we get overwhelmed by vast amounts of new mixes and tracks, every day I think it's the only way for me to do it. Everyone is already playing the hot new stuff and the charts of big DJ's so the B2 tracks of long lost treasures are definitely the way to go for me. Often people tell me that they don't know any of the records I played and that's the best compliment I can get. That doesn't necessarily mean to get lost in obscurity, the joy of the music and the digging while also making people dance (we are about dance music aren't we?) and maintaining the deepness is important for me.

The most interesting tracks to me are the ones for which you struggle to find a description or put them in a drawer. Is it techno, is it house, is it IDM or electro? So this mix was no different, there's a leaning towards the early 90s 'UK bleep sound' but that's just the starting point from where it can go in all directions. Genre names have never been of interest to me, so this one might well take you through 10 different genres while at the same time feeling monolithic. I hope y'all feel the same!"
