As the Mentality EP is just out during those introspective times it's the perfect time to share with you all  the 2nd session by one of LN003 artist and musical brother, Jayson Wynters @jwynters. Glad to have the opportunity to showcase this man's talent and spirit.

This mix is another proof of how he feels things. A balance between mind and body energies. Meanwhile getting respect on the UK scene and playing a role on the music/dj community since some time you can also see him moving forward in the world of martial arts in his native city, Birmingham. An art obviously influencing his life and music visions.

First, you have to define your core values then to explore your soul, accept what you cannot change and work on the rest. It is helpful to remember that no matter how hard you work you will never be perfect because perfection does not apply to humans. 
 It sounds like a good plan easy to follow, but it is very easy to get lost. For those moments, we highly recommend to put your head up and look for your guiding light. 
One of our guiding lights is @JaneFitz. There is no bigger proof that working hard and staying true to yourself is the key to become such an amazing person and artist. Jane is leading by example so be like her and do not forget that even Jane is not perfect but she is one of the Best.

Aardvarck has been a constant favourite here at Phonica - we've stocked his records since we opened, and they never last long on the shelves. His last album - 2019's 'Monkey Formula', made it to number 9 in our Best Of 2019 Albums end of year charts. The Dutch polymath producer has been releasing music since the early 90's on labels such as Djax-Up-Beats, Delsin and Rush Hour. Working in a dizzying array of genres, he didn't just touch on them - he mastered many, having 'hit' records in underground house, techno broken beat and dubstep scenes. Continuing his explorations further, in the last 10 years alone he made impressive moves into hip-hop, dancehall and ambient/concrete. His 12"s finding long-term accommodation in top DJ's record bags, defty used and abused by the likes of Mala, Ben UFO, Dan Curtin, Sassy J, Joy Orbison, Cera Khin and the Zenker Brothers. Since being one of, if not the first DJ to regularly play house music in Holland, It seems that Aardvarck might be approaching the end of his 'current' but long running and influential career. In our opinion this would be a huge loss. For now, you can enjoy his Off The Record Mix below.

As if by magic it's Monday. Again. How did we get here you ask? We don't have the answers but American composer and multi-instrumentalist Rafael Anton Irisarri has the perfect soundtrack to curb those inevitable beginning-of-the-week feels. 

Known for his immersive ambient productions, Irisarri has released several albums over the years with labels like Immune, A Strangely Isolated Place, Geographic North, Umor Rex and Room40, the latter two being imprints that he's returned to time and time again. Taking the form of continual compositions, his long players demonstrate his finesse at working with different techniques and textures, adding both classical and contemporary influences into the mix.

By day he works as a mastering engineer at his own Black Knoll Studio in New York, where he has prepared releases for the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Grouper and David August, as well as working regularly with labels like Ghostly International and RVNG Intl. 

Following the release of his new album Peripeteia on Dais Records in May, he blessed us with some recent soothing favourites, most of which he mastered at Black Knoll himself.

"German producer Benedikt Frey likes to challenge both DJs and dancers by writhing unpredictable tracks, with the aim to push against the boundaries of functional and "safe" dance music. Although he had been producing for five years previously, his career upped a notch in 2015 upon releasing five separate records, among those Ghosts best demonstrates his penchant for shambling groove. From there, his productions went from strength to strength, culminating in a full-length album in 2018, Artificial, which abandoned club sensibility in favour of low-slung chugging rhythms. Frey's debut single, 2010's Escape/Indica, saw a low-key release on Aldebaran, causing him to step back for a couple of years to further his craft. Upon his return in 2012 Frey had amassed a wealth of material, which he spread across three labels: releasing Fairytale on Mule Electronics, Running in Circles on Live at Robert Johnson, and Delinquencies, the latter of which he released through his newly minted record label Love Pain Sunshine Rain (aka Lopasura). Frey once again stored most of his music for a further two years, springing back in 2015 with another barrage of records; amongst them were his breakthrough EP Ghosts on Crème Organization and a full-length album, 2015's Two Pole Resonance, recorded as @initinit in collaboration with @nadia-d-al and released via @hivern_disc . Frey released his debut EP for ESP Institute in 2016, titled The Lobbyist, before going on to release his debut solo album, 2017's Artificial, on the same label. He spent two years recording the album, deciding to veer away from a record full of high tempo tracks, instead delivering a broader take on his ramshackle productions, partly inspired by industrial music."
