The End Of The World

This is a studio recording that I engineered and mixed in 2012. I blended close mics and X-Y stereo room mics to achieve the natural reverb on this recording.

At The Cry Of The First Bird

This is an excerpt from Spenser Liszt's CD, "Until Further Notice," which I engineered and mixed in 2013. I recorded this in a friend's living room with two large diaphragm condensers on the sax, as well as an SM57 run through an effects processor.  The drums have two overheads, snare and kick mics and the keyboard and bass went through DI boxes into my interface. The vocals were multi-tracked by another engineer, but I mixed them in with the band.

Relief Excerpt

This excerpt is a live recording that I engineered and mixed in 2014. The majority of what you hear is from the Mid-Side microphone configuration that I set up in front of the ensemble.  I also blended in the close mics that were on the flute, clarinet, and pipa as well as the direct inputs from the bass and guitar.  

Bookworm Excerpt

This is one of my favorite pieces from a duo record that I engineered and mixed a year ago. This is only two people, voice and guitar, but the guitar is muilti-tracked so that there are about ten layers, some of which are just ambience. The vocals are also splices of several takes. This was all recorded and mixed in my home studio.

Somewhere Safe Excerpt

This is an excerpt from a jazz recital that I recorded and mixed earlier this year. I placed two large diaphragm condensers over the piano strings, a dynamic mic on the guitar speaker, two large diaphragm condensers over the drums as well as an SM57 on the snare and SM Beta 52a on the kick. I ran a line out of the bass amp.

Bolivia Excerpt

This is an excerpt from one of the Live @ Rasoi shows that I record and mix. I placed an omni mic in front of Drew Zaremba's tenor sax, ran David Morgenroth's keyboard direct as well as placed two small diaphragm condensers on either side of the band for a wide stereo image.

This track is from my recent CD collaboration with Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam, titled Strange Monsters. Actors read Stufflebeam's words and musicians performed my composition (based on Tchaikovsky's Waltz from the Sleeping Beauty Ballet).
