Alvin Lucier's I Am Sitting In A Room version 2. I picked any voice recording & reduced the vocals to only leave the resonance of the room where it was recorded. It's funny how techniques pioneered 50 years ago can be used by anyone nowadays. I only kept the mumbo jumbo gibberish of the last three minutes. To be discontinued. Alvin Lucier RIP.

A woman who writes feels too much,

Field recording in the house of surrealist artist René Magritte, Essegemstraat 135, Jette near Brussels. The house is kept in pristine condition as a museum. The vinyl crackle in the background is by The Orioles, Crying In The Chapel, one of the favourite records of the Margrittes in the beginning of the 50s.

Tribute to Scott Walker. The title is taken from the wonderful Buzzers song from The Drift. Like a Last Song Syndrome the sentence was stuck in my head for weeks. So, i wanted to take revenge and make a fieldrecording that was just as alienating as the original song. Fieldrecording made on election day Black Sunday 05/26/2019 when Flemish nationalists took nearly all the seats & nearly all they could get in nearby Flanders. Beautiful birdsong turns into unbearable tinnitus. Recorded in a city forest just outside Brussels.

To celebrate the end of the endless summer. Here's a fieldrecording made at the Belgian beach with thunder, rain, people talking in several languages, jazz coming out of shops and pubs and the eternal heat of climate change conditions.

Here's me singing "She wants to be your James Bond" by Iggy Pop mixed with the poem Hobb w Temsah about different types of good and bad love sung in Arabic by the Lebanese poet, activist and sound artist Dima El Sayed. The balance is not quite right but who cares. It's pure heresy. A Babylonian mess and confusion. La belle et la bête. But this time for once we hardly cared. Let it sink in with headphones.

An experiment. I buried a contact mic in the sand near the breakers and let the waves wash over it. I got this wavy wobbly sound with water crashing against stone. Gulls. Children playing. Experiment was conducted early in the morning at the Belgian coast. Ebb tide. No additional effects. Listen with headphones. Loud volume.

Killing Ears

I got quite fascinated by the brilliant sound design of Soviet films lately. So I made my own mix of the fieldrecordings in some of the films. The first film is The Metamorphosis directed by Valeri Fokin, based on Kafka's story of the same name. Second is The Role, a Russian drama film directed by Konstantin Lopushansky and starring the great Maksim Sukhanov.
