Pete Rann returns once again in 2023 for his unique brand of synthesised based drum and bass. Written during lock down, 'Past Life' is a culmination of past and present; in essence a re-visit of an old track written in early 2000 with a fresh take of twisted synths, heavy bass and infectious stabs sure to take you on a time traveller's journey. 'Lost' was written in 2017 but disappeared under the radar for a while. With an uplifting feel, thundering synth lines and a positive undertone, it's safe to say this track has been well and truly found again.

Inspired by my first year in Chicago almost a decade ago, the track opens with real audio from those early days, when our little apartment on Sedgwick Street came alive every Sunday with the sound of laughter, joy, and strangers turning into family. The song is a reminder to carry that openness and gratitude into every chapter of life. This is the first single off of my upcoming EP, “And The Stars Always Knew”.

Pete Rann started his musical career after a school friend introduced him to the legendary Mike Allen hip hop/electro show on Capital Radio back in 1985. Since then he has embraced the sounds of deep house, Detroit techno, funk, rare-groove, drum and bass, broken beat, hip-hop and general electronica, which has enabled him to become a versatile music producer and respected DJ.

Since sending a demo to Blame back in 1997, Pete has recorded for Good-Looking Records, Looking Good Records, Fokuz Recordings, Camino Blue, Tru Thoughts, Vibez Recordings, Omni Music and a host of other like-minded labels. He has also graced the decks all over Europe and America as well as hosting numerous radio shows including a two year stint on Bass Drive and six years with Box Frequency FM.

In 2009 Pete set up his own imprint 'Pete Rann Music, covering a variety of genres including atmospheric drum and bass, nu-jazz, down tempo, house and electronica. He continues to produce his unique brand of synthesiser based music in a variety of different genres.
