Maestro

This was written in a very dark period of my life, about a year ago in the middle of the pandemic. It reflects the chaos I felt then and how I was pulled in different directions emotionally. Thus the name "Torn". 

I hope it will make a deep connection with people who hears it, even though it doesn't tell the story in words.

Torn

I wanted to try and make something harder sounding than I usually do, and this is the result. It's inspired by a lot of techno tracks, but of course I couldn't make myself keep to one genre, so there are some trance elements in there and other things as well.

Techno Bunker

This is a remake from scratch of my old track Travel Through Space. You can find the original from 2005 here:

I started this track during the summer of 2021. It was just a simple arpeggio in the beginning and I had no intention of doing a remix/remake of anything. But pretty soon I felt it was a bit similar to my old track, so I went all the way to try and do a completely new version of it. Basically the only things that remains (besides the similar arpeggio and feeling) is the old Vocaloid song samples I did back in 2005, and one pad sound. Everything else is new. I thought about trying out some real vocals for this version, but I kind of like the old quirky and almost alien-like vocals from the old track. To me it is part of what makes this track stand out a bit.

Travel Through Space 2021

After one year off with no releases during 2022, "Dawn of Midnight" is my return to the release train and synthwave/retrowave genre. I wanted to make something that sounds classic synthwave, but at the same time fresh and with a chill/moody feeling.

There are more tracks in the release pipeline in the synthwave genre planned for 2023, so keep an eye & ear open for that if you enjoyed this.

Dawn Of Midnight

The creative process for this song was pretty straight forward. I started with an arpeggio which had a nice chord progression. Added drums and a catchy bass line to it, and built the structure from there. I used some newly acquired filters to make it sound more dirty & retro. After some much needed feedback I did some finishing touches and this is the end result. Enjoy!

Existence

Hello! 

So here's my third Synthwave track release of 2023. This track has taken over a year to finish. I felt it had potential from the beginning with the simple but yet interesting arpeggio, paired with the pumping bass. Over the months I found more and more ideas and things to try out and add to it, with the electric guitar being one of the last things added, to get that finishing touch.

Peter Aries - Voidrunner

As I remember it, this started out as a piano piece, where I put down the chord progression as well as the outline for the melody. But then I went all-in trance, added some shuffle grove to it and - voilà - Solara was born.

The title of the song came about in the collaboration with Huba Adorjan, who sent some inspirational images for the artwork. One of them stuck with me and the title is kind of a worldplay on the image of a female deity of the sun.

About this album:
Life is not always an easy journey, but music always helps me coping with the daily struggles, as well as the bigger questions. Love, life, death and the meaning of it all. This album was created during the last two years of my life; a time when these bigger question fell upon me on several occasions.

The word "Nostrum" means something like a cure-all medicine, which actually does nothing, like a placebo. Sometimes I imagine that a nostrum is what we think we need to be happy in life. Something is going to make everything better; working out at the gym, taking your vitamins, meeting the love of your life, making more money, buying more stuff. At least this is what social media, news sites and commercials tells us. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not.

The creation of this album has been my escape from reality. It has given me a look back to my childhood and it has helped me dream of the future again. Maybe it's just placebo, maybe it's not.

But I hope you'll feel it too.

Cowbell

The Upside Down

I made this song in one single Friday night. The song has a repeating but evolving pattern, which made me think of how most of our daily lives feels like, you go around in circles, doing almost the same thing each day. But each day is a small increment in an ever going evolution, and when you zoom out and think about where you where maybe a year ago, or a decade ago, then the circles has evolved quite much. And so this is how I got the inspiration for the cover art as well.

This album is about escapism, a future that never was and occasionally... Fast cars. I tried to pour as much of the 80s feel into one album as I could without getting too ridiculous. I suspect it's right on the edge sometimes, but for me that's what the synthwave genre is all about. Over the top retro nostalgia. Also, I am a sucker for movies, so my goal was to do a more cinematic synthwave. It should feel as if listening to a soundtrack of an awesome movie. 

The album features 9 brand new tracks and 3 previously released singles, but with some extra finishing touches added to them.

The artwork was also done by myself - not my speciality. I hope it came out okay though. At least the text looks a bit like the "Back to the Future" logo. :)

Peter Aries - When All Things End (feat. Karin My)

The track is my 4:th trance release of 2019. I had a hard time choosing the next track this time, due to my latest track 'When All Things End' had vocals and was quite a big release for me. I chose The Light since it's a bit different than my previous tracks, with a more "less is more" feeling to it, but still with a strong melody.

The Light

This is one of those tracks that was really fun and fast to produce. I had good flow when I made it, during the christmas holidays 2019.

It's inspired by other talented trance producers like Eximinds for example, who actually made some of the presets in this track, for the ReSpire synth (by Reveal Sound).

This track is inspired by the 80s, video games, Los Angeles, palm trees, fast cars, Hotline Miami and Axel F.

L.A. Beast

This track was created in the autumn of 2019, right after some tragic events happened to relatives and my family. I had a huge creativity block for a couple of months because of this. Then one weekend all came over me and this piece came out.

The track is an unusual mix between Gospel and Trance, which I've never heard anywhere else before. I chose to release this, not because I think it's going to be a hit and make many playlists (which I feel is very unlikely due to the unconventional combination of genres), but because it is a very personal and emotionally important song for me. 

I hope you can appreciate it even though it doesn't fit any genre's template particularly well.

In My Heart

Early this year I was planning a trip to Greece with my family and during this time I was inspired to create this track (the working title was "Greece"). Due to covid-19, the trip was cancelled. The track is a mix of symphonic parts and uplifting trance.

Titan

I started out 2020 with a very uplifting trance track (Trancelocation). It reflected very well how I felt then, how excited I was to share all my new music with you all during the coming year. How I hoped for great things to happen. Things turned out very different for me and virtually all humans on earth. 

I wanted to end this crazy year with something more laid back, with a bit lower tempo than I usually do. To make room for the sounds, but still  keep some groove to it. This is my way of saying to myself to set lower expectations for 2021, but not let go of hope. Come what may, but make room for what's truly important and give yourself time to reflect.
