The second movement of the Pandemic Suite (consisting of Suite No.8 - No.17) describes different shades of reminiscences in the retreat.
This episode (Nr. 13) captures the gentle fading of memory's echo.
It is a soulful swan song, a melancholic farewell, scored for piano and orchestra.
It begins with a simple motif by the piano, step by step unfolds in wistful remembrance, and ends as humbly as it began. Like a distant breeze, music drifts across the vast expanse. Though composed entirely in radiant major, it breathes a melancholy. It hums beneath the brightness, piano notes glancing gently by, the orchestra whispering the message in restraint: What has gone, will maybe never come back ...

Peter Cat is the musical alias of Glasgow-based songwriter and performer Graham Gillespie. Known for his caustic wit, cinematic vision, and ever-shifting soundworlds, he’s a cult favourite among fans of outsider pop and theatrical art-rock. His 2020 debut The Saccharine Underground was released on vinyl by MoFi Records and distributed via Last Night From Glasgow, followed by 2022’s The Magus EP—home to minor cult hit “Melon Dating Simulator!!”.
