Had the idea for the guitar riff part in my head and thought it sounded cool, but it was way slower than the actual song. So I decided to remix the whole damn thing.

Everlong Remix

Had the chorus lyrics/melody in my head for a long while, but never came up with anything to go with it. I started recording something that was big and lofty for fun and realized it would be perfect for the lyrics I already had. The rest of the lyrics are going for kind of that Killers "write a story, now get rid of every other line, put it on the lyric sheet" kind of writing that I like.

I am not at all proud of my vocal work, however. Worst part of the whole track.

Fantasies

Not sure what to categorize this as.

So I've had that piano part sitting in my back pocket for awhile but haven't tried to put anything together with it. Finally I was motivated to finish the song, and this is what came out.

I went looking through some of the old lyrics I've written but never used, instead of writing something new, and found this song. It's very rare when I actually write a song specifically about me/my life, instead of just... drawing inspiration and then writing a story. But at this point I think I'm detached enough from what this song was based on to not be self conscious about wearing my heart on my sleeve about it, which is what I was when I wrote these lyrics.
