Off the bet, I love making 8-bit chiptune myself a lot. My main reason is you are very limited in instruments. And thus you have to create lot's of harmonies with what you are given.   I think you've succeeded in doing so. Mix could be tweaked a bit to make the high layers of the track a bit less abrasive to human ears. Specifically when you have a counterpoint in the end around 0:55 when you have two instruments playing in same range. Second "responding" instrument is way to sharp to ear, try either softening it via ADSR or perhaps EQing those abrasive point out or changing it an 8ve down for example.   Otherwise I love the idea.

It's a Friday and that means it's @MusicWeeklies day!  This week's theme is #BigCities, and I thought I would travel back in time to one of the earliest cities, Uruk.  As always, everything is very loosely connected and the artwork shows a picture of my son and I in another city, Cairo.  The music contains instruments from other ancient civilisations, can you spot them?

Today's #MusicalMinute is in response to the @MusicWeeklies #Geisha challenge.  Adding Koto to my template seems to have caused a few problems resulting in lots of crashes, loss of external drive connections and audio issues!  Hopefully, everything will be alright for tomorrow.  What do you think?

8 - Bit Adventure

FUEGO DE INVIERNO - WINTER FIRE - SHORT TALES PART VIII

In this part of my Short Tales Series, pieces for three acoustic guitars, I explore diversions from a very solemn, contemplative Flamenco style or "Palo" called Seguiriya. “Seguiriya” is one of the oldest flamenco styles. It is one of the most important with the “bulería” and “soleá”. More precisely I blend it with the Buleria. You can hear snippets of the original style here and there in this piece as well as the outro. I however travel into different fields of music with it, Latin, Classical and Jazz. The result is I guess Fusion or Worldmusic. 

I hope you'll enjoy this one as well as the full series of Short Tales for Three Guitars, which I will put up here as an album, as well as on Bandcamp soon for sale.
