Peter Kahlenborn's »Vesica Pisces« 

Me and my current trio, feat. Ralph Beerkircher and Tobias Hoffman on guitars. We were invited to play @ the KLAENG Festival 2013, an exiting experience for me. Everybody @ Klaeng was wonderful - there was enthusiastic audience - and the »Subway« in Cologne (GER) has been a lovely host. 

I was blown by Christian Lillinger's incredible ensemble »Grund«, and heard lots of other great music, including a solo set of pianist John Taylor (UK), one of my all time heroes. Another Highlight was experiencing the great Trilok Gurtu (on his first appearance after he had to undergo hospital treatment. Get well soon!)

The track here was recorded life from the festival (!) by the WDR, and features an original composition of mine. Hope you'll enjoy listening! Thx

Friday, June 11 2014, one of my biggest idols in music passed away. R.I.P Charlie Haden. This is just a brief, song like piano improvisation, based on a fragment of Friedrich Hollaender. It's about spotting the origin of resonance, that Charlie Haden's work invokes inside myself every time since the very first time I heard him play. Sorry I can't offer a recording on a grand piano, plus I'm a hobbyist on the piano - anyway, its from the heart. Thanks for listening and sharing the spirit.

As I start playing I love to say hello to the drums by letting go to play whatever feels naturally. Since it feels like a kind of meditation I personally call this Schlagzeug-Yoga (Drum-Yoga).

This Track received the VDM Award 2012 for Meditative Music. VDM is the »Verband Deutscher Musikschaffender« in Aachen, Germany. The music is an improvised piece using several pans and bowls such as you shown on the picture.

I love to integrate sound sources such as diverse percussive instruments or everyday objects, or to prepare the drums in one or another way. Otherwise I'm pretty much »old school«, working on groove to make people move. I love to learn from everybody - so please connect.
