This is from the re-release of my first solo album, Worlds Apart.  It's a new track called Kenyata.  It's played entirely on a Kalimba, or "Thumb Piano," as it's commonly called.  This particular Kalimba is from Kenya, and is very crudely tuned, unlike ones that are more well manufactured.  In other words... It's more authentic.  To record this piece, I first recorded the rhythmic (non chromatic) parts by placing the instrument upside down and playing it as though it were a drum.  I recorded several parts this way and created a loop or two as edited parts, overdubbing an additional percussion part or two along the way to create polyrhythmic parts along the way.  Then I turned it over and created harmonic parts with additional polyrhythms, some looped, some not.  It was not so much that I was playing a musical piece, but rather, I was improvising and composing as I recorded.  That was and is often the case as I create these pieces.  Nearly always, in one way or another, as the rhythms and melodies and harmonies help me creatively stretch from one idea to the next...  From one composition to the next.  From one album to the next.

From the re-release of Worlds Apart, Corroboree is a new addition to the album.  A Corroboree is a ritual or celebration that comes from Australian Aborigines, whereby we participate in the interaction of the dreamscape with costumes and dance.  This particular recording brings our worlds together by use of traditional Australian instruments alongside many other instruments of the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa and the Far East.  However, it's tone and rhythms are distinctly routed in the celebration of the Corroboree.  As you listen, sit back, close your eyes, take deep breaths and lose yourself to the dreamscape inside the musical stage of dance and costume.

Peter Kendall Warren is a passionate "immersion-experience" music producer based in the Denver Colorado area.  He has spent most of his career in the Nashville, TN area, but has also lived in Australia, South Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Colorado.  His musical roots have breadth and depth as a result of love for the many cultural experiences, people and arts he has encountered in his life.  His goal is to produce music that touches the heart, soothes the soul and stimulates the mind, no matter what style, genera or purpose.  

Peter plays guitar, is a recording and mix engineer, producer & composer.  Additionally, he programs, arranges and orchestrates both world instruments and orchestra instruments.

Peter has his own recording facility, and he works with multiple platforms of recording software, including the more popular industry standards.  His primary system is a ProTools HD system.  He also works within StudioOne quite often.  He can work remotely, or will travel to work with artists.  He is available to work with artists, producers and other engineers, and always invites communication about working together.
