This collection of 10 songs is my first full album since "Love on the Line" was released in 1996 on Signature Sounds. A few years later, my wife Kathy started having behavioral and emotional problems. It started out as mood swings, anxiety, and violent anger. For a number of years, we were in denial. But by the time Kathy was diagnosed, we knew she had inherited Huntington’s Disease from her mom.
       Huntington’s is the same genetic brain disease that Woody Guthrie had. Some say it is like getting Parkinson’s, ALS, and dementia at the same time, usually in middle age. It took her aunts, uncles, cousins, and two of her siblings as well. It became difficult for me to make a living as a graphic designer and keep an eye on her. Continuing to perform was not a possibility. She was finally diagnosed in 2007 and I was her home caregiver until she passed in 2015.
     Music was my medicine. During those times I kept writing songs and recorded them on my computer. I developed creative friendships with many musicians here on SoundCloud. I began collaborating
with people around the world. Some of these songs come from that
period. A few of them are funny. But there are also love songs and stories about my life. Since then I have found love and my Susan Hill sings harmony on some of the songs here. Thanks for listening and supporting independent music.

This is a rework of one of my first songs uploaded to SC a year or so ago. The story of how Billy and Heather met, fell in love, fought off the bad guy and got married. This features my friends Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry. I met Jim competing in the Boston Acoustic Underground back in the 90s. We both lost but now he plays in Mary Chapin Carpenter's band. He has backed up Deb Talan as well. In addition to being a solo artist, Tracy has sung with Mary Chapin as well as Joan Baez and the late great Dave Carter. 

All proceeds from this track will benefit the Huntington's Disease Program at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Huntington's Disease is the genetic neurological disease that Woody Guthrie had. My wife Kathy is doing well with the disease due to their help and support.

Marriage of Convenience /with Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry / produced by SamFranklin

I write songs about everyday life and a few covers. Some of my tracks are serious but many are not. Humor is my medication. It helps me put things in perspective. As some of you might know, my wife had a thing called Huntington's Disease (HD). HD is the genetic brain disease that Woody Guthrie had. It affected her balance, moods, swallowing and eventually led to her death (October 2015). My reason for mentioning this is that all of my profits from my recordings (I know, good luck with that) are going to the HD clinic we go to at the University of Connecticut. I want to thank everyone for making SoundCloud a wonderful community. I made some wonderful friends and was inspired to do music again because of you. The new SoundCloud was bungled. But it is, what it is. I am back writing songs and practicing and have been performing here and there. While I am concentrating on getting gigs at the moment (rather than recording), I will upload some of my existing songs that I took down when I stopped my paid account. I have really old stuff on my archive account.
