My New Life's Just Begun

Peter Luke's all-acoustic, dangerously folky debut "The Adventurous World of Peter Luke" was released two years ago to no commercial success and limited critical acclaim. Instead of doing what any sane person would have done in that situation (quit wasting valuable time and somebody else's money), Peter Luke kept on writing and performing on the internationally despised London folk scene, and when the opportunity presented itself, he recorded and released yet another track. 

If anything, Peter Luke's new (and first - did I mention non-existent commercial success?) single is proof that he's willing to compromise if need be. "My New Life's Just Begun" is far more accessible than any of the tracks on his debut LP- in fact, it's not necessarily folky to begin with. Being stubborn, prone to tantrums, and too fond of his own principles, Peter Luke recorded the song using only acoustic guitars (the ringing, Tom Petty/Byrds ca '66 riff was played on a Martin), but at least it features drums, bass (played by Gary Brown, you should look him up), and to add insult to injury, an organ - played by Luke himself. Now, it ain't Coldplay, but you can put the track on in a crowded room and people will actually realise there's music on. Most of them have even liked it. As of yet.
