This track by Peter Strickmann was submitted to 'Intermission an Audio Portrait of Place' for a live broadcast event in 2013.

The project was produced by the artist collective Echoes for the Lisbon Architecture Treinnale and curated by Jennie savage. This track was selected from an international call asking people to record their 'local', in response to the question 'What can a sound recording tell us about architecture?'

KINDLING is super excited to share our latest edition created by Arek Gulbenkoglu, who we think has produced some of the most consistently interesting sound works for fixed media in Australia over the last decade or more. Creating wilfully obtuse or even opaque works which are sonically thought-provoking and perceptually pleasurable by equal measure. While Arek has released a string of fantastic works on respected labels such as Penultimate Press, Regional Bears, Index Clean, Careful Catalog, and Triste Tropiques, it has been the small-batch works which Arek has self-released over the last 10 years or so that really drew us into what we will clumsily call his post-improv period of composed works. If you can find copies of them … we highly recommend you track them down! In keeping with our intention for the works we create and share to speak for themselves … we encourage you to listen-look-read-think-feel and leave you to find, follow or conjure the connections (in)between the sounds and images of SWAN IN THE PAST for yourself …

Realised through 2023, Swamps & Stars events brought together artists and researchers from Berlin and beyond to explore the vibrations between swampy spaces and the cosmos. Through sound, performance, and participatory happenings we listened and learned together modes of Planetary Listening.

Peters Strickmanns‘ „Weights“ was originally presented as a performance as part of the 2023 Listening Biennial (@ Errant Sound, Berlin) in which acoustic feedback and unavoidable performative gesture were manipulated and troubled by the weight, the materiality and some invisible parts of selected stones.

Collected in the course of a one-month residency at Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf in the lonesome midst of south-west Brandenburg, Germany, April 2016.
