At the beer fragranced Indi Bar open mic one Thursday evening in 2015, Summers, a multi-instrumentalist, watched his friend Pete, at the time a stand-up comedian, crush it on stage. After Pete’s set, Summers promptly declared “we should jam”. 
Gritty, funky, hip hoppin’ and downright hilarious sounds soon wafted through the streets of Scarborough. Pete’s sense of humor and presence on the mic’ clicked instantly with Summer’s love of groove and musical sense.

*An Imaginary Star is Born*
The Pete Summers Band sums up the ironic and dark humor shared between the two suitors as well as their disdain towards pretense and the status quo. They began to jam in outdoor locations such as in the dunes at Trigg beach and multi-story carparks in Scarborough, naturally leading to busking around Perth and Fremantle.
Pete Summers then proceeded to descended upon the Perth open mic scene, polarizing shocked and rocked audiences, even to the individual level, from the get go. On one such occasion, grotesque comments such as “this is shit!” and “TUNE!” were hurled his way during the same set, by the same audience member. Whenever Pete Summers stepped on stage a whirlwind of immense energy, brashness, funk and fun ensued. Money was thrown onstage, people walked out, people got horny, sound guys almost lost their minds and hosts almost lost their jobs. Pete even had an article published in “The Bali Advertiser” declaring a tour of the hottest bars in the Bali, which was entirely dreamed up by the journalist who wrote it, along with the fake interview that accompanied it.
Pete played a few legit gigs but seemed destined to remain in obscurity due to his outrageous lack of regard for political correctness and his eclectic stylings. One Gabba inspired punk song about a lovingly devoted father might possibly be accepted at a hip hop gig, but country metal as well? Unlikely.
World travel and changes in lifestyle have led to the current hiatus of The Pete Summers Band. Will Pete return to dust the cobwebs off the ol’ bookshelf of the collective Perth consciousness once more? Nobody knows…... or is waiting in anticipation.
