Robin has a 12 String Danelectro at his house, and I was awake before him this morning so wrote and recorded this before getting to work on the RSF guitar tracking today.

Just a quick idea that popped into my head, I figured it was about time I posted something on here again.
This is a pretty rough recording so forgive the shoddiness of the playing.

Short Chromatic Fives thing

I don't know why I made this, but I did, and I was laughing maniacally the entire time, tracking the vocals was especially tricky. Ended up using it for an April Fools joke song today with Red Seas Fire.

The end section (I say the end, it makes up most of the track) is a very slowly building chant where I sung a nursery rhyme and reversed it, it was meant to be a section that freaked people out if they had forgotten that a song had been playing and this boomy atmospheric chant filled the room.

Everything on this is me, the guitars, the programming, the vocals, the poorly pronounced Italian, everything.

TL;DR - All of this was done in half an hour, tone creating, recording, mixing, everything. As a result it's not a super clean performance or mix, but it was just an extreme test upon a first time trying out BIAS Desktop.

Long version. I just upgraded to Yosemite (I hadn't upgraded my operating system since 10.6.8 so I was reluctant out of fear of losing anything) in order to be able to use the new BIAS Desktop plugin from Positive Grid, and I figured to really test out how useable it is I would limit myself to half an hour from opening logic to create a decent sounding mix.

So here's a snippet of the Red Seas Fire song Tyrants, with BIAS Desktop shaping the tone of the guitars and the bass.

Today is the first day I've been able to record anything for close to the past month since I was forced to completely wipe my computer and start from scratch with regards to mix templates and whatnot. So here's what I managed to get done.

I've always struggled to create a great bass tone from the Axe FX Ultra alone and without any help from external plugins, but working on a fun cover I started from scratch and managed to wrangle up my favourite bass tone yet!

CAGE Grind Noir - 'Face/Off' on the Radio 1 Rock Shows "Bump & Grindcore" segment.

So to force myself to get better at producing stuff that isn't metal I've been working on doing covers of pop songs recently.

There's something really nice about going into something terrified because you have no idea how to produce it and coming out the other side with a relatively decent sounding cover.

This still needs some synths and things adding, but since I bounced it out for a mate to hear I thought I'd throw it up on here too.

All credit to Oh Wonder for being fantastic song writers, I'm really looking forward to catching them live later this year. Big props.

Just going through the old ideas folder, this one is a few years old and I sort of wanted to use it for Red Seas Fire but it never went anywhere.

Kinda cool, dystopian sounding thing.

Skepta - Shutdown (instrumental cover)

Going through my HD making space and getting rid of things and discovered these two tracks I recorded that were meant to become youtube covers for the dormant GRAVEROBBER project I was doing for funsies with Robin Adams. Figured I'd upload them so that something I spent a considerable amount of time on gets to see the light of day in the potential event that we never pick it back up.

Much like with the last track I uploaded, found this track I recorded as an intended youtube cover and decided to upload on here so something I spent a day or two on gets to see the light of day. The bass in the middle was meant to be re-recorded because it sounds like shite and there's a couple of drum samples missing here and there.

Again as with the previous two tracks, this is something I put together from scratch and was intended to be a full youtube cover with vocals and all but it just never panned out.

This is an old Red Seas Fire idea that went nowhere, dating back to 2011, I really loved the atmosphere of it, but it was an arse to play due to being all downpicked.

So here's a thing that was written ages ago that was meant to be tweaked and improved and cut down to a bit less and then released in my old band, but I ended up leaving the band before that happened. 

Seems like it would be a waste of time and good riffs to just let it sit there doing nothing so here it is.

This is the first vocal-less snippet of a grind band I have gotten involved with called CAGE, who write songs about Nicolas Cage and his movies.

So almost a year ago Nolly and I did a playthrough video of our track Cipher. In order to produce the audio nicely I recorded a DI signal of the guitar while I videoed along with the distortion version so I knew what I was doing was right, and then sent the DI to Nolly to re-amp with the most appropriate sound.

This is the DI signal of me playing Cipher. There are cut points in a couple of places where I have pieced together the best moments from the live takes I did, namely the change between the riffing and the big chordy bit that precedes the solo.

I was in charge of the vast majority of synth stuff that happened on Red Seas Fire's debut record, and a lot of it ended up being almost inaudible, here's some of my favourite moments that were created, whether they were audible or not.

The drums are 99% Metal Foundry by Toontrack, the bass is my Gibson Grabber with the Darkglass B7K overdrive pedal and the Axe FX Ultra as the amp emulator.

Was working on some stuff, helping out Jakey with a BIMM project, and had about 5 minutes to record a good sound, threw up EZMix Guitar Gods, bob's your uncle.

Yes I'm aware it's not amazing, but for doing demo's this program is the shit.
