Quite a few people listened to my interpretation of the Lavender Town theme from the Japanese versions of Pokémon Red and Green, so I thought maybe I'd make a thing of it and adapt my favourite songs from each generation (and maybe a few extras since there are a lot of great ones). 
Violet city is the first town to contain a Pokémon gym in Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver versions, and I always imagined that this theme was meant to be played by a large, well produced band with lots of brass and strings and stuff, like in those old motown pop songs. Sadly, I don't have access to one of those. Only Sibelius.

Pokémon has been made cool again, and I thought now would be the best time, if ever, to revisit my series, "Taking Songs From Pokémon Games and Changing Them Why Not". We're up to Gen III, which many consider to have the best soundtrack. Now there are plenty of mixes online of your Mt Pyres etc., but the Surf theme from this game is my favourite of any in the series. I did consider other tracks (Sootopolis City, Mt Chimney and Zinnia's themes from the newer games are brill) but since no one really has given any love so far to this weird waltz thing, I figured I'd get the ball rolling.
The title is a very bad pun on The Decemberists' 2002 debut album Castaways and Cutouts, which inspired this thing. Also Tropius is my fave Gen III Pokémon and I'm not even a little bit sorry.
