This is an updated version of the original Aphro dubplate made in the late 90s. The Luniz gave the OK for a proper remix to be done which Micky Finn and DJ Aphrodite as Urban Takeover did successfully and this Remix was released with a dub version and the original and th Aphro dubplate in the late 90s.

DJ Zinc released the original jungle version of the Enya / Fugees 'Ready or Not' white label  bootleg. Another version was released by DJ Aprodite in the Noughties on a limited white label 1000 press and a Zinc remix of the boot came out in the late nineties. 
This version is the exclusive version used in DJ Aphrodite live DJ sets and has never been released.

Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

Australia's Spectrem has been efficiently going about the business of making a name for himself since Technique signed him in 2013. Anyone who's been following his career will be aware of the breathtaking array of influences that shine through his music. His style is versatile enough to encompass everything from smooth and liquid to dark and grimy and pretty much anything else in between. So, what niche is he going to draw for this time?

“Culture” tells you its influences with the very first Far Eastern glissando on the very first beat. Then, as an electro-funk bass hits, those influences come into sharp focus, as the tune strikes the pose of a seventies martial arts flick soundtrack. The drop signals an instant reconfiguration of those elements into a ultra-contemporary dancefloor workout. Syncopated call-and-responses keep the vibe bouncy, but its the snaking, dance-galvanising modulations of the bassline that are this track's real calling card. This is a proper party tune by a producer that wants to make ravers move with a smile on their face.

Then “Shaolin”, as the name suggests, takes us a few more steps into the world of kung fu cinema. Just to show how deep his pool of ideas goes, though, Spectrem doesn't revisit the same territory. This one takes in tropes that real heads will recognise from classic Playaz or Urban Takeover material. There's the hip-hop sample, the Reese bass, the martial arts strikes, all giving a classic feel and offering respect to the heritage. And all that given a 2016 treatment to deliver the huge sound that the modern dancefloor requires.

So, once again, Spectrem proves he's not conducive to pigeon-holes. Even a release that, on the surface, stems from the same basic concept offers two wildly different interpretations. It seems as though this producer's supply of influences and styles is inexhaustible, so all that remains is to see how he's going to surprise us next.

The Blackout train has well and truly left the station already in 2017, and with the year’s debut single from Black Sun Empire featuring collaborations with Noisia and Pythius the momentum that is being gathered so early is bordering on frightening.

BSE have delivered another beautifully constructed single that blends the tough sound fans are used to with Noisia’s brains and Pythius’ brawn. The depth of knowledge and talent in tandem with BSE’s creative capacity makes the single just the adrenaline shot the scene needed to jump start the year. “The Veil” takes a more scaled back approach by pushing its energy through a souled out bassline, whilst Pythius’ influence can be heard in “Catalyst” as it swings violently, yet gracefully, through a string of hot tempered breaks.

The great news is that this is not just a single release, but the prologue to an epic journey that Black Sun Empire are to embark upon in 2017, with the group stating recently:
“we’re excited to announce we’ve been working on our next album and we’re almost finished, can’t wait to tell everyone more about it soon”
As a statement this is incredible news, as many fans and peers have been waiting for a BSE longplayer for a while. However, when you look at “The Veil”/”Catalyst” as the hors d’oeuvre and appetiser, the main course is guaranteed to attain Michelin star status.

Known for their distinct and inimitable flavours, Black Sun Empire have further refined the formulae that formed their astonishing full-length debut Driving Insane to produce Cruel &amp; Unusual which resets the standard slightly higher. Out of the three strictly BSE bits, The Cooler begins with a robotic beatbox that builds from hip into a hypnotic break, whereas Bitemark coincidentally leaves the best impression. Expertly arranged and intensely kinetic with several sweet touches, this baby boasts some of the finest phonic fangs found! Future Frame has again a spaced intro, but the sounds resembling alarms should warn you for what is to come. After taking you deeper into a trance it switches much stronger than its siblings do. Spaced out, then stompy – classic chiaroscuro.

Hideous, a collaboration with fellow countrymen Noisia is disgustingly appealing, and has already achieved anthem status. Illy MC stamps his lyrical authority on the synthetic and steamrolling Sideways, which packs enough punch to knock you in that direction. Masquerade is the result of bits and bytes flying across the web, more specifically between Hungary and Holland. SKC and BSE meet up virtually to create some tribal beats which build into a frenzy of clarion stabs and serious breaks. Detailed and different.

Image ain’t everything though, which is why BSE are doing their bit to support and spread awareness of the Dance4life organisation, which aims to make young people aware of the dangers of Aids and HIV. The proceeds of the two remixes BSE have made for their anthem will go to this ‘World Aids Campaign’.
While the Dance4life remix on the sampler rolls right out, this one refuses to play it straight, instead raging and roiling around post-drop. Soft vocal, hard everything else.


Balanced and polished to near perfection, Cruel &amp; Unusual takes aim at both ends of the body with acute accuracy, ensuring a sharp strike-rate. When it comes to deadly, dark and digital drum ‘n’ bass, this is the real deal.

A golden age is dawning in the land of the black sun; BSE Recordings continues to provide only the freshest produce, nascent label Obsessions is cultivating a cult following with its prime cuts (from top producers across the planet), and the new album is ripe for the rinsing.
