Tambien is a beacon of hope in a dark warehouse. This is their second offering for the ESP Institute. After their debut Drogato on the label in late 2013, this Bavarian trio have ignited excitement among discerning dancefloors worldwide. This sophomore effort brings to light a deeper and more melancholic side of their House repertoire. The A-side’s Der Elf gives us serious goosebumps as its monotonous marching 909 snare lays ground for an almost random arrangement of beautiful bending synths and psychedelic chopped female vocals. On the flip, we have a lengthy gorgeous come-down with Are You In Touch w/ Varan? After more than half of this muted and breezy oscillating vibe, we’re awaked by naive and melodic twinkling keys, helping us all face the daylight.

After six inimitable EPs ranging from blissful pop to slow burning house, Frank&Tony, aka Francis Harris and Anthony Collins, the creative force behind the boutique label Scissor and Thread, break new ground once again with their debut full length, "You Go Girl.” Reflecting the spellbinding vibe of their monthly "Punch Drunk Love" residency in The Panther Room at Brooklyn’s Output, “You Go Girl,” marks the duo's turn from their pop-driven work with proteges Bob Moses towards a grittier, analogue, club-centric approach. The result is an enduring slice of true dance floor magic that nods to Basic Channel, Detroit and New York house while rolling along effortlessly for nearly an hour. Highlights include "Bring the Sun," an achingly elegant ode to lost love sung by frequent label contributor Gry Bagøien, as well as the catchy house roller “Resistance,” which features Jason Poranski of Beirut. The November 17th digital release of the album is to be preceded by a three part vinyl version, (the individually titled “You,” “Go,” and “Girl,” EPs are due October 20th, November 3rd and November 17th, respectively,) with an alternate track list heavy on DJ-friendly dubs and exclusives including the sprawling thirteen minute, “Companion,” a collaboration with DJ Sprinkles that has the indescribable feel of an instant classic.

2015 will prove a benchmark year for Scissor and Thread with the rising momentum of Frank & Tony and Desert Sound Colony and now with the introduction after many months of work of their new enigmatic artist, Rosas Nievas, with a sublime debut EP, Every Inch of You.  Like a tip of the hat to Herbert, the title track entices with easy piano licks, a cooing vocal and a lush atmospheric enveloping the 'floor in a warm embrace. Flipping the switch, the bounce of "Opinions" propels dancers into hands-up, Chicago-style elation, while the rollicking, looping closer, "Hear Me Rain", entrances with its early morning psychedelia. Completing the package is a breakaway edit from label heads, Frank & Tony, who transform "Every Inch of You" into a sun-drenched, euphoric deep house stormer, in a way only they can do.

The boys are skating back into action with “Apprentice,” a three tracker featuring staple cuts from their Punch Drunk Love residency at Output’s Panther Room which first appeared on Frank & Tony's much-lauded Resident Advisor podcast. The EP opens with the title track’s propulsive funk bouncing along, building rapidly before setting the stage for a sample-led breakdown sure to foster eyes closed elation. Next, the deep-sea throb of “Lamento” shimmers like beams of moonlight piercing the water’s surface before a hi-hat shuffle stirs it into an after-hours stomper. Bringing things down nicely is the strut of “Modest Season,” it’s hushed drums anchoring the track as rain drop-like keys drift in and out like the calls of sirens at sunrise.
