Blind Hope DEMO

Finnish singer-songwriter and producer Petra Jasmiina is known for her poetic storytelling, visceral imagery and themes of dark romance. Her newest release, "Summer Dress", out on October 27th, is a story of a young summer love, as beautiful and fleeting as a glorious New York sunset.

Written on her NYC rooftop, the song takes us to the golden city of Manhattanhenge and its balmy summer nights, restless streets and dark corners. Summer Dress depicts the end of summer and romance, but also that of innocence, walking a fine line between love and lust, heaven and hell, darkness and light. 

The soft sound and alt-pop production reflect this delicious duality with low basses and airily layered back vocals, another staple of the singer-songwriter's catalogue. The acoustic guitar arpeggio, played by New York-based Finnish jazz guitarist Olli Hirvonen, is a gentle nod towards the artists's debut single, "Hours", which came out in 2019. "Summer Dress" was recorded and produced at Petra Jasmiina's studio, also home to her production company Petrafied, as well as Craig Levy's Little Pioneer Cider House Studios in Hell's Kitchen. A full music video by Petrafied Productions and That Russian Guy Productions – the culprits behind the MUSE and Europe Music Awards winning “Naïve” –  starring Brooklyn-based digital creator Oliver Fideler, is underway.

Its lyrics, especially the second verse, are some of the best I've ever written", Petra Jasmiina says. “Summer Dress” is the third single, or as the artist calls it, Chapter III, off Petra Jasmiina’s upcoming album, expected in 2024.
