Ericsson Hatfield is from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and is currently enrolled in the class of 2018 at New York University. He studies violin performance with Cyrus Beroukhim and composition with Marc Consoli.

"This piece was written during my study abroad program with New York University at Prague, Czech Republic in the fall of 2015. I observed a clear imprint of the 20th century on the mindset of the Czech people— the Nazi and Communist occupations that dominated their way of life. The tolling chords in the prelude and first countersubject in the fugue represent the passage of time in history (ironically, I found that the center piece of Prague was the astronomical clock in Old Town Square). The third countersubject in the fugue (which is presented when the dominant is fully obtained as the new key) plays on the inevitable drive from the neapolitan to the leading tone resolving to the tonic. This “requirement” of the music reminded me of an inescapable fate, complementing the tolling time theme. At the final cadence of the piece, there is a picardy third to represent hope in the new generation."

Petra Matějová combines in her carrier modern piano and fortepiano playing. Her interest is to approach each repertoir with the maximum care for the sound and interpretation esthetics of the time when it was conceived, which includes also the choice of instrument. Lead by her strong interest for the music of late 18th and early 19th century, Petra Matějová started to be active in the field of early music after graduating from the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in modern piano. She studied the fortepiano in Paris and Amsterdam, and received her PhD diploma in 2014. Her thesis on Voříšek´s piano works and the early 19th century piano style was held in an international doctorate programme at the Janáček Academy in Brno, Université Paris IV-Sorbonne and the Paris Conservatory. 

Petra Matějová appeared in the main recital series of her country, including two consecutive performances at the Prague Spring festival and a solo recital on both instruments in the major piano series in the Rudolfinum in Prague. She gave concerts in most European countries and is regularly invited to the festivals in Central Europe. In France, she made a recording for the Mezzo TV as well as a solo CD with works by Schubert, Beethoven and Voříšek. She records frequently for the Czech Radio and has recorded pieces by Rejcha, Mozart, Janáček, Fibich, Voříšek (complete solo works), Tomášek (complete Sonatas), Franck, Haydn, and Mendelssohn. 

Since 1995 Petra Matějová gives regular masterclasses in piano, fortepiano and chamber music. She leads the fortepiano class at the Valtice Early music Summerschool, in 2012 she gave masterclasses in Katowice and in 2014 in Wilanów, Warszaw. From 2008 to 2013 she taught the fortepiano at the Janáček Academy in Brno.
