Pets Recordings shakes things up with another exciting label debut. UK producer SAHAR, celebrated for his unique, vocal-led productions on labels including Sum Over Histories, Isolate, Me Me Me, and Exit Strategy, storms onto the Pets roster with his brand-new Shakin' EP - a two-track journey packed with seismic energy and unmistakable groove.

Leading the charge is the sinister electronic strut of the title track, Shakin'. Crafted as a bold announcement to the dancefloor, the track has already proven itself in SAHAR's sets. 'I made Shakin' because my sets usually have my own vocals as a theme, but I wanted something that felt like a direct message to the crowd,' SAHAR explains. 'I thought it would suit the early stages of a night, but it ended up being my closing track for most of 2024 - it's got that perfect sign-off energy.'

On the flip is, How U Feeling? a track that takes inspiration from the fleeting sensations and energy of the dancefloor. 'I made How U Feeling? just after ADE,' says SAHAR. 'I heard a DJ play a track on the crane, loved it, and asked what it was. Unfortunately, I forgot to make a note of it, so the knowledge was lost forever.' Back in the studio, he worked on recreating the vibe from memory and, having been especially drawn to the energy of the heavily distorted female vocal chops, created his own.  'I'm thrilled with how it turned out, even if I'll never know how close I got to the original inspiration.'

Pets Recordings is delighted to welcome our dear friend and Italian Stallion, Bawrut, back to the label for the first of two EPs crafted during one of the most transformative moments of his life - awaiting the arrival of his first child. We proudly present: 'Papa Bawrut 1'.

In Italian, 'Papa' carries a dual meaning: both the affectionate name for a father and the revered title of the Pope. While we won't be anointing Bawrut as an earthbound deity just yet, we do kneel before his almighty beats and dancefloor mastery.

The EP opens with 'Gallop', a track born from rediscovered sound files buried deep within Bawrut's laptop. As he puts it:

'The metallic sounds and percussive pace remind me of a horse galloping. or maybe it's my little one, kicking like a future champion.'

Following this is 'Good', a tune that lives up to its name. Inspired by a Daft Punk documentary stumbled upon on YouTube, the track originally bore the working title 'DP 1' before evolving in line with its irresistible vocal sample. Making it pretty damn good!

Brazilian beat alchemist Renato Cohen returns to Pets Recordings with his most combustible concoction yet - the 'ETHER' EP, a high-voltage trip through funk-fueled formulas and dancefloor chemistry.

Continuing his tradition of highly flammable funk, Cohen follows up the heat of 'Meltin'' and the volatile bounce of 'Benzine' with a three-track experiment engineered to spark chemical reactions wherever it's dropped.

The title track 'ETHER' is pure ignition - a dancefloor detonation of horn-fueled energy and explosive drums that combust on contact. This track doesn't just catch fire - it starts one.

Next up is '2000 Heats', a disco-laced dance potion brimming with shimmering guitar licks and filtered grooves, ensuring that dancefloors will melt as Renato dials the temperature.

Closing out his latest experiment is the searing 'Firefall' - a creeping acid burner that tips the pH balance with its twisted vocals and deep chemical haze. It's the final component in a carefully calibrated mix of danger, desire, and dancefloor destruction.

Vhyce returns to Pets with more of his beautiful signature cosmic disco and his timing is exquisite. Making his debut on Catz & Dogz label earlier this year with 'One Day We'll Float', the release landed just at the right time as we all plummeted into a bleak new year.

Now as summer begins to open up again, and things look a little brighter, he returns with equally precision-timed sounds. With its sultry bassline and big romantic pads, 'Monde Réel' hits with a big dose of hope. Translating to 'real world', this is a homage to the future. And that positivity remains on 'Insieme'. This time translating to 'together', it's another moment of unity as Vhyce takes us up and down the scale in classic Q&A arpeggiated style. Soft, gentle but emotionally soaring; you can almost feel the hugs as the woozy synths roll out.

Always one for balance, Vhyce includes the much tenser and introspective 'Subdued' for those darker moments when unity and togetherness seemed so far away. An absolutely awesome collaboration, the force between Shadow Child and Altern-8 don and all-round rave pioneer Mark Archer has been strong for some time now. First appearing on Super Rhythm Trax together under their MASC guise in 2018 with almighty techno headbutt 'Non Stop', they returned two years later in early 2020 with equally fired-up 'Return Of The MASC' EP. Both EPs were celebrated and savoured at the levels you'd expect.

Two years later and the pair return to our speakers this time on Catz 'n Dogz Pets imprint and they're armed with two more unruly late night tear-ups. 'Morse Code' hits with that classic detuned synth sound that smacks of a million Fantazias and is driven by a quirky, memorable spoken word sample. 'Toto' plays the consummate foil with a ridiculously bulbous and addictive bass riff that shines and slaps with the sound and energy of both artists.

Collabs of this weight and span are often misguided and don't quite hit the spot. But Mark Archer and Shadow Child have the perfect fusion that celebrates the last 30+ years of this culture and have enough diesel in the tank for the next 30, too. Time to crack some codes!

AFFKT has been affecting the dance for long enough to avoid any long-winded introductions. With releases on some of the biggest imprints in house and techno over the last 15 years (Mobilee, Stil Vor Talent, NeedWant, the list goes on), the Spanish veteran knows exactly what emotional buttons to press with his music and when to press them. From urgent to poignant at the flick of a switch, he's a man of drama and deep pulsating productions.

Productions like 'Black Crocanti'; an epic slab of electronic theatre, imagine a blend of Black Strobe, Digitalism and Tiefschwarz all rolled into one hefty swaggering electroid jam and you're on the right track. Originally released in 2018, 'The Choice' features a gritty, jacking warehouse beat paired with a spoken sermon by New Jersey vocalist Bunty. The track's themes of friendship, trust, and love, are core values that both the duo and their label uphold in 2024. The initial release included stellar remixes from Bawrut, Adriyano, and Beton, but today the track takes a new and exciting direction with a rework by recent Pets inductee, Angelos.

21-year-old Justin Jay announces his Momentum EP, due out on Monday, March 16th via Catz' 'N Dogz' Pets Recordings. Nine months since his last EP, Instincts, on dirtybird, this Los Angeles native delivers a soundtrack from his last semester at University of Southern California  to show just how much he has matured over the last months, both personally and musically. Challenging himself to always take things one step further, Justin Jay continues to grow as an artist with sophistication, and expand his knowledge as a producer/DJ.

Produced in his college bedroom, Justin Jay's Momentum EP begins with hat tip to Motown's Gladys Knight & The Pips with "How I Knew," a hypnotizing deep house number with evolving bass lines, on-point percussion, and recognizable vocal sample. "Momentum," his second collaboration with fellow dirtybird, Kill Frenzy, follows to showcase the pair's affinity for driving, warehouse-ready techno with subtle intricacies. Closing out the EP with his buzzed about Mixmag Lab set opener, "You Give Me Butterflies," leaves listeners with carefree vibe driven by a smooth and dreamy house groove, accented with layered, mood-elevating synth work.

How I Knew:
I don't have much to say about this one. I made it in my bedroom, and spent my fair share of late nights working on it pissing off my roommate who was trying to get rest for his midterms... (sorry Ulf!)

Momentum:
Producing "Momentum" with Kill Frenzy was a really cool learning experience for me. The idea for the song came together while Seb and I were kicking it on my living room couch playing weird sounds off of our lap top speakers, just having fun. When we sat down to properly produce the track, I kept on trying to add unnecessary ideas and overcomplicate the track. Sebastien helped me realize how simple an 8 minute song can be without getting boring - it's all in the details, although that's easier said than done. Finding the subtle changes that actually work was a long trial-and-error experience for me. It was ultimately super cool to hear how simple, yet satisfying the song was for us.
 
You Give Me Butterflies:
As I'm finishing up an incredible last year of college, and getting to do all of these amazing things in music, it's felt good making happy, lighthearted songs that really capture my mood these days. I've spent a large part of the last year exploring darker sounds and textures. I definitely want to continue experimenting in that direction, but I wouldn't want to neglect my goofy, cheerful side either. "You Give Me Butterflies" is a carefree day at the beach, spent with your friends, acting like 8 year-olds.

Delivering his grooving techno sound with early 90s and 00s influences, Polish DJ/producer Edvvin builds on his 2023 outing on Catz 'n Dogz's Step Recordings imprint with a debut outing on Pets Recordings to open 2025 in style. Bringing his own take to DJ BLIK and DJ POLKOMTEL's high-octane 'Rave Racer', with the original fusing influences from rave, breaks, trance and beyond, his remix ups the energy levels even further while keeping the original's lead melody at its core amongst a crisp combination of rolling kicks and sharp drum licks for a fresh dose of late-night energy.

To set the tone for an exciting year ahead, we're revisiting the final release of 2024 with the 'Party Anthem' EP from Ukrainian producer CAFIUS. Known for his boundary-pushing sound, Cafius has been captivating listeners with everything from trance-infused house on Diynamic to Mediterranean-inspired grooves on Nervous, and darker-edged disco on Octopus. His versatility and ability to blend genres has made him a favorite of industry heavyweights like Solomun.

The 'Party Anthem' EP delivers three house floor-fillers, starting with the lead track 'Smack' - a high-energy anthem built around a catchy vocal loop, groovy bassline, and funky drums. Time for a little neck bulging, slimy skin hip-slinking summer fun as a true craftsman steps from the studio shadows: Jay Shepheard, who’s back with a track that’s so infectious if you licked its back you’d trip for weeks.
Prepare yourselves for ‘Bullfrogging’: wry funk, warmth and humanised technoid soul. Taking a vocal texture then processing, harmonising and splicing the spawn out of it, Jay’s precision balance of electronic hustle and anthromorphised action has all the hallmarks for a summer anthem.
‘Early Doors’ follows suit and there’s a massive clue in the title… Soft-focused, warm, rolling and laced with textured chimes, it’s definitely tailored for those key transitions between warm-up and second gear. Deep, trippy but coded with a hookiness that grabs rather than soothes, once again it’s classic Shepheard but with a revitalised 2017 twist. Hey, he didn’t lock himself away in the studio for twelve months for nothing, right?

Fresh from excursions on Gruuv and New Violence, Glaswegian Dalfie returns to Catz ‘N Dogz Pets with three more marching orders. Please stand to attention:
‘Outlaw’ sets the tone with a slinky synth bass groove, a shadow-creeping ambience and a neat sense of momentum that takes you unaware with subtle twists and diversions en route. An ideal opener or transition piece, ‘Outlaw’ whips up an atmosphere like no other.  ‘For It’ adds acidic petrol to the deep, dark fire. Slow-burning with a hip-slinking percussion-tinted groove, it gradually gets darker and darker as we creep further into Dalfie’s 303s. By the time we’re submersed in the breakdown our veins are nothing by circuits and frequencies run through them like blood.
For our final leg of the journey Dalfie leaves us in a brighter mindset with ‘Right Up’. Taking cues from both mid 90s Chicago and late 90s Paris, there’s an unquenchable funk woven deep into the filtered samples, pushing beats, carnivalian percussion and the lolloping bassline. Twisted in places, fluctuating in others, seriously vibrant throughout, this is a precision intersection of house, techno and disco all rolled into one seriously vibed-out party piece. By title, ‘Can’t Think Right Now’ could sum up so many mind states and situations around the world right now. By groove, it’s even more universal; warm, lucid, funky and peppered with psychedelic elements; don’t think, just act, just dance. 
‘Me Plus 1’ follows with another universal call to dancefloor action… And there’s space on the guestlist for everyone. The positive connections continue as Catz ‘n Dogz update their Music Manifesto with the latest single from their well-received fourth album ‘Friendship’. Originally penned by aforementioned rising Raleigh artist ZenSoFly and her producer-in-crime Maxville, then developed with Catz ‘n Dogz, Zen’s lyrics will resonate deeply with every genuine creative bone in all of our body while the Pets bossmen whip up a jittering, bumpy, horn-poked groove that nods at the old Classic Music sound. The message is clear: make your own wave, be true to what you want to do and don’t put other people’s waves down. Life is too short to feel any other way. 
Life’s too short not to pay attention to these two extraordinary remixes, too. Each one rides its own totally unique wave; long-time compadre Justin Martin touches the crest with his light-footed jack, bubbling bass groove and sudden spasms of glitchy funk while Optimo-fresh Theus Mago continues his remarkable vein of form with an intergalactic sleazy sci-fi funk perspective. The original also comes with an inspiring feel-good video featuring Catz ‘n Dogz friends. More words of wisdom, this time for the Pets maestros themselves.

Rydim is a mystery. Well, partly… One thing that isn’t a mystery is the high level of acid house authenticity at play here. Dark, heads-down strobe light seduction with the focus squared firmly on the soul of the dance. 

‘FOMO’ lives up to its name thanks to some ominous reese craft. Purring savagely throughout the track, leaving space for the sinewy 303s to dance wildly, it sucks you right in and spits you back out into the lasers at speed. Miss it, miss out. 

Don’t miss either Johannes Albert’s remix or the Bass Tool either; the former maintains the acid but re-shapes the bass into a warmer vibe while the latter strips everything back to that growing, heated bassline. Both will leave everyone in the house happy… 

Finally we have ‘Fairlight’. A homage to the mother of all samplers? That’s another mystery to solve. But we do know it’s another beauty from Ridym; naked beats and bass with crucial pads woven in for optimum breath-takes, every rush any dancer has ever felt since the 80s is saluted and celebrated right here. From Eats Everything's debut single 'Entrance Song' to Rachel Row and husband KiNK's first single together 'Follow The Step' to the numerous 'Friends Will Carry You Home' collections, Pets has never lost sight of its purpose or raison d'etre. A long-standing operator on labels such as Future Disco and Boogie Angst, here we find the Belgian-based Portuguese-Italian making his debut on Pets with four blistering slabs of disco. A fine balance of groove, bass and cosmic nuances, we kick off with 'One Day We'll Float' where a bulbous party bassline springs from nowhere and instantly uplifts.

It's backed by plenty more goodtime gold: 'The Heart Take Fright' nods wryly at Yazoo while chugging from here to the horizon, 'Personal Numbness' is a much more contemplative, introspective jam while 'Electric Dreams' lives up to its name with a Moroder-like prowl that quickly turns into a full-on chase.
