Melbourne’s William Kiss debuts on Rekids Special Projects with ‘Clap For Me’ EP.

William Kiss’ ‘Clap For Me’ EP on Rekids Special Projects opens with a tom-fuelled groove in its title track, a booty-shaking rhythm intermittently broken up by a repeating ‘Clap For Me’ vocal, setting the tone for a party-starting release. The UNCAGE, Club Bad and 23rd Century artist drops ‘Jacker’ next, harkening back to old-school drum machine funk and invoking pure dance ﬂoor mania through its hypnotism and retro vocal.

‘Werkin’' then sees William Kiss keep the pace through more vocal-driven sampling melded with punchy 909’s, before ‘Talkin’’ continues with full-on house euphoria designed to turn heads. The Melbourne producer then closes things out with ‘Cherry’, which, compared to the preceding tracks, goes down a more classic rolling techno route, showcasing the versatility of an artist who knows the dance through and through.

The new release dives deep into the duo's formative musical influences, blending their signature techy beats with an unmistakable nod to the bands and electronic acts that shaped their sound.

Since bursting onto the scene, Matrefakt have quickly made a statement with releases on top-tier labels like Shall Not Fade, Warehouse Music, Trick, Sous Music, and More. Renowned for their groovy, tech-driven productions, the duo's music pays homage to the heroes of the past while fearlessly pushing things forward. With the 'Sugar Breakfast' EP, Matrefakt unashamedly celebrate the indie and electronic pioneers that inspired them to create their future-funk sound.

'The new EP takes inspiration from our love of indie music growing up, listening to bands like Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons & Kasabian, then being further inspired by the Chemical Brothers & Daft Punk as we got more into electronic music,' Matrefakt explain.

The 'Sugar Breakfast' EP is a four-track journey galvanised by its block rockin' beats. It kicks off with the pounding drums and razor-sharp guitars of 'Over Drive,' setting the stage for the title track. 'Sugar Breakfast' serves up no saccharine fare or processed beats, with its electro-clash riff delivering a punch straight to the tastebuds.

On the flip side, 'The Chase' takes listeners on a funky ride with its slap-bass grooves and thumping keys, before the EP closes out with the relentless Detroit-inspired pulse of 'Roll One.'

Matrefakt's 'Sugar Breakfast' EP is a tribute to the dancers and fluorescent adolescents all around the world, blending past and present into a sound that's unmistakably their own. Get ready to indulge.
