B9 is a condensation into 30 minutes by John Oswald of the six to seven hours of music that comprise the nine completed symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven. This excerpt is the beginning of the piece— navigating the 4 movements of Beethoven's First Symphony. 
The recording is from the premiere in Frankfurt performed by the Ensemble Modern with Harmut Keil conducting.

It's Henry Kucharzyk's playing John Cage's Sonatas and Interludes on a prepared piano. The recordings were done onstage at the Premiere Dance Theatre in Toronto during the day prior to an concert presentation (and recording) that evening. John Abram writes 'It's one of the best recordings I've ever heard.'

A reasonable facsimile of a composition by John Oswald commissioned by the BBC, which had its premiere performance by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ilan Volkov in May 10th 2014, as part of the Tectonics Festival in Glasgow. 
It's structured according to and directly referential of three very unusual but nonetheless high profile pieces from the swinging late '60's.

I'd Love To Turn

The following story occurred in 1994 when the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation commissioned me to visit Brasilia. They were hoping that i would create a radio art work related to my Brazilian experience. I went to Brazil but i didn't make any recordings there. I didn't create a radio art work at that time. The events that i witnessed were too absurd. I found it difficult to concentrate on the purely aural aspects of my journey. When i returned to Canada i became engaged in other projects. The soft core nightmare of my visit remained inside my head. Until now.
The names in this story have been changed. The relative time scheme has been compressed — separate scenes have been combined into single events.
But this all really happened.
