I submitted this to the Beyoncé remix competition in Spring 2012. This was informed by 8 bit computer music from the 1980's, minimal robotic techno, and the atmospheric effect of hearing distant singing in a cathedral. I purposely kept the instrumentation stripped-down to give Beyoncé's strong vocal performance more focus, with backing vocal elements as FX.

Soundtrack extract from the "Endangered Sounds" audio/visual sound installation.

I was invited by curator Daniel Charny to contribute an installation to Neville Brody's first Anti Design Festival which ran for a week in September 2010 in a Shoreditch gallery. It was well received by Daniel, Neville and visitors.

Project overview:

"Everyday, the technological landscape of your life becomes a little less diverse. Personal technologies that used to be so commonplace — such as film cameras, CD players, answer machines and even books — are all being replaced with the homogeneity of digital technology. And with this, the unique and interesting sounds that we grew to love are on the verge of being lost. This installation aims to raise awareness of this insidious process and asks the question: how do you feel about losing all these sounds?

The idea behind the Endangered Sounds installation is of a bird hide in reverse. It invites the public to don a pair of headphones and peer into the gloom and through the undergrowth, listening for sounds and looking for glimpses of soon-to-be-extinct everyday objects, like watching for rare animals in the wild at night.

The entire installation was lovingly rendered using only near-obsolete and second-hand equipment, in a style that aims to capture the grainy, decaying, flickering imperfections of ageing technology."

Astronaut-themed remix I did for Time Dilation Unit of their fast-rocking single Psycho Pterosaur, featured on their Apollo 11 anniversary-themed "Trans Lunar Injection" EP.

Atmospheric rhythmic electronic mix informed by the mysterious nocturnal spirit of Balinese gamelan. The mix uses David's recording for samples and sound sources but is a radical reinterpretation.
