Sumantra's Plea

Shabari, and old ascetic woman, has waited for Rama to bless her hermitage for a long, long time. She daily spreads flowers along the walkway to soften the footpath for His lotus feet. When at last He appears, she is overjoyed. She offers Rama and Lakshmana sitting places, water, and sweet berries, and in turn, Rama offers her liberation from the material world.
