Today’s service offers a full psytrance sound that is sure to blast you to another dimension. Diving right into the episode with introducing and show casing our guest mix by ATFV (@klaus-krzok).

ATFV is a self-taught producer and DJ from Bristol, UK, with a formative 9 months of experience under their portfolio. I was personally drawn into their discography on SoundCloud, which offers sounds from drum & bass, to dubstep, to psytrance.

I spoke with the mad scientist ahead of this and asked a little bit about their journey so far and where the project is headed. They are purely music driven when it comes to their production and track listing for their mixes and are currently working on some collabs and EP’s that are targeted to drop on Spotify early 2024. "Psytranceformation" - A quick genre origin story by Minister Matt:

Now, for some of the listeners that are not too familiar with Psytrance, also known as psychedelic trance or simply psy… it is a captivating subgenre of electronic dance music (EDM) that originated in Goa, India during the early 1990s. 

•	The roots of psytrance delve into the psychedelic culture of Goa, a coastal region in western India. Goa was a haven for Western backpackers seeking spiritual enlightenment, drawn by its beautiful beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and the allure of psychedelic substances like LSD and magic mushrooms. These fearless travelers brought with them a love for psychedelic rock music, which they played on rudimentary sound systems during beach parties and gatherings.

•	In the 1980s, electronic dance music began to infiltrate Goa's shores. DJs experimented with high-energy, fast-paced tracks that could keep crowds dancing throughout the night. These musical concoctions were influenced by techno, acid house, and traditional Indian music. The fusion of these elements birthed the first true psytrance parties.

•	In the early 1990s, a group of Goa-based DJs and party organizers embarked on a journey to Europe. Their mission: to introduce psytrance to a wider audience. Their efforts flourished as psytrance quickly gained popularity in countries like Israel, Germany, and the UK. A vibrant international scene emerged, fueled by pulsating beats, mind-bending visuals, and an otherworldly vibe.

In recent years, psytrance has evolved beyond its musical dimensions. Producers now emphasize sustainability and environmental consciousness at festivals and gatherings. As dancers lose themselves in the rhythm, they also connect with nature—a harmonious fusion of beats and ecological awareness.

So next time you find yourself grooving to psytrance under starlit skies or at an underground rave, remember its roots in Goa's sun-kissed beaches—the birthplace of an electrifying genre that transcends time and space.
