Experimenting with broken time signatures and swings. The track is somewhat frustrating since the Electribe, which sequences the synths, sometimes fails to trigger a note with these time signatures and fast tempos. Weird.

Aeolian overdose

Slow jam with the Electribe Sampler and Volcas. Drums are sampled from MFB Tanzbar analog drum machine. Reverb comes from the Mini KP2.

Noita Lumis

This track is in E Phrygian scale.

The base is played on Arturia Minibrute 2s, with the tremolo done by LFO on the frequency modulation, and there is a rising saw LFO on the filter. The oscillator is a square wave with a pinch of saw tooth mixed in, and a sine sub oscillator.

The pads are done on Volca FM, with a soft version of the Pluckkey preset, with long decay, slow attack, and a very mild vibrato.

The real star is the Volca Keys, which does the lead licks - it almost sound like an electric guitar. The trick is to close the filter quite tight, with a steep envelope and a high (but not the highest) resonance; there are two octave-apart sawtooth oscillators. I am really happy that I've found yet another sweet spot of this amazing synthesizer.

The kick comes directly from Volca Kick, and the rest of the drums are from the Electribe Sampler. 

Everything is recorded live to Tascam DP-24 portastudio, which I also used for all mixing and mastering. Panning of the high hats and cymbals is done in the electribe, and the lead synth and pads are panned in the portastudio. There is a hall reverb on the lead synth and the pads, and only a very light compression and eq on the master.

A little Electribe 2s composition with extra Volca voices: Bass does the arpeggio and FM does the bass. Master recorded from the mixer directly to Kaoss Pad 2, normalized in Audacity with a pinch of compression, and that's it. Nothing fancy.

Ross 128 b

Sunday disco jam with my modular synth + Minibrute 2s. Sequencing was done using MI Grids and the Mimibrute sequencer. Lead melody/base is from the minibrute, MI Rings does the weird percussion, Noise Engineering BIA does the kick, and Erica Drums does the snare and hh. Reverb from Erica Synths Black Hole. Chords are from QuBit Chord, and are all mixed through a little Doepfer stereo mixer. 2hp compressor does some side chaining. The master output went from the modular into Elektron Analog Heat, which I then recorded to Korg Kaoss Pad.
