PREMIERE: Saintbull feat. Ruben Gauna - Every Piece Of You (Original Mix) [Polyptych]

Returning after a two-year hiatus, Phenomena presents a new EP from label boss Elias Erium. Created by Canadian producer Elias Barouche (previously known as Solid Stone), Eilas Erium is an artist moniker for contemporary techno music. In the genre’s ever shifting landscape, the Montreal resident has continued to earn praise from the underground’s premiere tastemakers. Adriatique and Tale of Us have been steadfast supporters dating back to 2017, and moving forward with a renewed focus Elias’ upcoming agenda looks set for a similar fate. With an EP for Eleatics subsidiary Aletheia Recordings setting the course for the new moniker, Elias now returns to his Phenomena imprint with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Harvester’. 
Beginning with title selection Elias explores the subterranean regions of hypnotic techno. Energetic and rhythmic in all the right ways, exotic percussive arrangements and shapeshifting textures descend over a pulsating foundation. Gradually opening up across the first act, it’s a subtle rise in tension which initiates the main break. Modulation peaks against a backdrop of shadowy design as the centrepiece evolves, eventually giving way to the meditative groove for a mystical finale. 
The companion piece ‘Spearhead’ follows suit with another sleek techno-minded narrative. Backed by a smooth, hip swinging groove, it’s bounce and drive quickly become infectious. Buoyant chord stabs and devilish vocal fragments emerge as the journey evolves, eventually giving way to a one-minute interlude. Harmonic refrains keep rhythms locked across the break, smoothly segueing into a driving finale as flurries of drums and vocals proliferate in a dynamic crescendo. 
Destined to be favoured by a broad range of DJs over the coming months, the 'Harvester’ EP makes for a promising start to Elias Erium's impending audio travelogue.

As if two original releases weren&rsquo;t enough, IMGFriend have also found time to collaborate with the mysterious Prakenpak for &lsquo;Charagami&rsquo;. Remixes come from Stan Kolev and Jerome Isme-Ae plus a dub version. In original form &lsquo;Charagami&rsquo; is a melodic house cut which benefits from its highly original use of light and dark, hard and soft. Musical and captivating, this is a sure fire hit for the new project. Where the original is emotive and uplifting in character, the dub is a darker, more cerebral brother. On remix duties, Stan Kolev takes things deep and surreal while Jerome ups the ante in his epic style.

The latest release from Phenomena finds label boss Solid Stone back in the spotlight with a new EP. 2019 has seen the Montreal resident release three critically acclaimed projects. Landing in February, May and August, this trio of two track offerings found favour with a cross section of the underground's most highly regarded DJs. Adriatique, Guy J, Sasha and Tale Of Us have all chimed in with support for Solid Stone's fresh approach to melodic techno. Now following a remix for  Slideways Music, Solid Stone returns to Phenomena with 'Prismatic'.  

Beginning with title selection Solid Stone explores a unique amalgamation of moods. A foundation of tight beats serves as a backbone for crunchy design and hazy swells. Spacious yet impactful, it’s growling low end is full of character and drama, positively charged and perfectly playing off sweeping atmospherics and exotic percussion. Tranquil arps come to full fruition during the main break, peaking with tasteful modulation amidst a haze of ethereal noise, before emotive chord changes make for a compelling conclusion.

The companion piece ‘Stigma’ follows suit with its spacey yet exhilarating energy. Iridescent arps blanket a bed of tough beats while fiery percussion builds in waves. The narrative shifts as glowing pads segue into the main break, sparking a second and decidedly more sinister arp, as flurries of drums usher in a stomping final act. It rounds out a heady EP from Solid Stone, one which continues to show artistic growth and boundless creativity, setting up what should be a memorable fourth quarter of 2019 for the Canadian artist.

"Following the success of his "One Side of the Underground" series, Rick Pier O'Neil now presents Vol. 3 with new original tracks plus remixes from UK and Argentinean industry icons.

An artist with a 24-carat reputation within the underground dance industry, Rick Pier O'Neil follows on from where he left off in "Vol. 2". "Travel Meet" sees a collaboration with French artist Sonov as a ticking percussive groove and grooved bassline build alongside a hypnotic arpeggio. Evolving elegantly, white-noise swirls and granular pads add to the sonic architecture alongside new melodic motifs in the second half. "Manipulation" sees O'Neil join forces with Ukrainian artist Serge Landar in a mesmerising work that revels in sustained bassline prowess. A shaker-fuelled percussive framework supplies dancefloor character and a rich array of counterpoint melodies play off each other as arpeggios and pads combine in complex stratified layers. The third original offering is a solo affair that finds O'Neil showcasing his production skills through "Fair Trade". A glorious rhythmic and bass groove provides energy throughout as trademark textured pads and white-noise swirls ripple back and forth across the stereo soundstage. Delayed analogue motifs make an appearance at the breakdown that bridges the darker bass and percussion-oriented movements either side. The result is another classy piece.

There are few more iconic names in the underground dance industry than, Nick Muir. As one half of the Bedrock duo with John Digweed and a double century of appearances on the latter's Bedrock imprint, Muir is as relevant today as he was during his legendary work in the late 90s. Also finding his name allied to the likes of Vapour Recordings, Perspectives Digital and Watergate, Muir's DJ career has seen him perform across the globe on a regular basis. Making his Proton Music debut, the Nick Muir remix of "Tribute" is a gloriously dynamic affair that takes the central bassline of the original and transforms takes it on storming journey alongside a glorious array of arps, beautifully textured pads and rich melodic motifs. The addition of a club-friendly beat and groove-laden percussion is sure to fill dancefloors the world over.

Phenomena caps off an incredible year with a new EP from label boss Solid Stone. The Canadian artist has continued to develop a distinctive sound across 2019. In combining fresh rhythmic concepts with tight grooves and astral aesthetics, the Montreal resident has continued to receive support from Adriatique and Tale Of Us. Now landing back on his Phenomena imprint to complete a stellar year, Solid Stone presents the two track offering ‘Lotus’. 

Continuing to diversify his portfolio, Solid Stone explores a deeper, more hypnotic sensibility on the title cut ‘Lotus’. Tight beats, electric rhythms and dramatic tones begin the six minute journey. Senses heighten as layers of percussion and atmospheric drifts unite across a devilish first act. As the main break begins to take shape an indistinct vocal furthers the narrative, with rising modulation creating a sinister tonal tension, opening up with each successive loop, before reaching a tasteful apex and stripped re-entry. 

The companion piece ‘Sworn Seven’ follows a similar minimalistic ethos, making it the perfect complement to its predecessor. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a tranquil arp and ghostly vocal fragment, perfectly set up by a punchy groove, clattering percussion and hazy atmospherics. Ominous and intriguing, it’s arcane nature is inviting, becoming fully realized during the main break, as tasteful modulation melts down to a gentle purr and effortlessly segues into a meditative finale. 

In a year filled with memorable productions, Solid Stone may have saved his most astute work for its final offering, with both ‘Lotus’ and ‘Sworn Seven’ elevating the Canadian’s unique sonic philosophy once again.
