Thank you to all the people that have engaged the project since it’s release! I’ve made a list and I’ve checked it twice! So, when I’m up, y’all getting ice!

This project was a battle to cover ground as a conceptual artist. I poured my rage, frustration, and lows into this project and made peace with how masculine these feelings can look.

Detroit was the perfect place to learn to understand these feelings. Gender is racialized and the black experience in Detroit allowed me to take myself to the fringes of gender that lie outside the limits of white supremacist culture in America. Detroiters are so strong and this project definitely has some second-hand emotion to it.

Joe Lyewis is my alter ego and an eternal mood. He is the me that wants to show the world that I am still harder then these men that make our lived experience so violent.
It is to say that I’m violent because you are.

The project isn’t perfect and that frustrates me. But it is complete and my best for now….

It all begins with me, saying yes, to the next person that asks me out. Up until this point, I'd never had a relationship. I decided to change that. I started to feel lonely, and separate from the world. I spent most of my time in life, in a very lone wolf mode. I began to fear physical connection, and tried to push anyone away, that was interested in me. As it turned out, saying yes, introduced me to a lot of great things, and a lot of problems.
