From an album found in an old storage cupboard at News1130 (CKWX) Vancouver, BC, Canada. Entitled "The Big Sound" it's famous people of the day, saying the temperature. Yes. It is Sometimes the famous people request their own tunes.  Hear The Four Preps unmercifully teasing Glenn, hear how excited Duane Eddy is, how smoky Julie London sounds and the good natured fishin' stories of Nat King Cole and Tennessee Ernie Ford. I'm guessing it's from 1958.

Old Timey Temperature

From the vaults of CKWX (News1130) Vancouver this is a radio industry album entitled The Big Sound, This was a record delivered to radio stations so they could actually have Bob Denver on their stations saying things about the music and interacting with the DJ! Yes. The kids loved  Bob Denver. This series of drops is probably from 1960 when Bob Denver as Maynard G. Krebs was a big deal. I've edited out all the silence between cuts so it'll make you giggle a bit after he says "Man" for the 20th time. It sounds a little bit like 4/20 at the Art Gallery.

CKWX Coverage 1955 Grey Cup

The launch of AM 640 The Hog on June 29, 1990.  It's a very long launch, mostly taken up with a retrospective of the station they were shutting down - Country AM CFGM in Toronto. It actually sounds like something you'd hear in a 1950s science fiction movie where the end of then world is coming and this would be on the radio.  If you look at the wave file, you can see the companders kick in as they play the Van Halen version of Happy Trails (around 16:00 minutes in). First live voice on The Hog is Randy Taylor.

The 9- 10 pm shift of the legendary David Marsden's last Saturday night show on radio station CFNY 102.1 Toronto/Brampton.  He gave up the shift for his newest hire - a young club DJ named Chris Sheppard. January 1986.
