Hey hey! Here we are again with another episode of Shades from April's Saturo Sounds radio show. This month it's back to a full 2 hour mix from me and what a month it's been for music. Shades May 2021

Hey hey! So here is something special - a back to back (or back 4 back) mix from the PROGRESS:ON team - Alan Ruddick, Nasser Alazzawi, SOAP and myself. We've been meaning to do this for ages, but never got around to it. This is a showcase of the types of sound you'll hear at our parties - it was supposed to a little teaser ahead of Boris unlocking the restrictions this month (and we all know how that turned out!) 
Alan opens in the first half and our with some gorgeous warming music, followed by Nasser who spices things up with progressive melodies, then with me ramping it up even more, ready for SOAP to smash it out in the final thirty minutes.

Shades 10th Nov 2021

What a day and night Progress:ON was this Christmas! We had a room full of music lovers, smiles and energy. It was a total blast to play the closing set after smashing sessions from Neil Craven, Richard Trout and Nasser Alazzawi.

Here is mine and Alan Ruddick's b2b set in the Promise takeover of the MegaDome Festival By the Sea - this is the full 3 and a half hour version. What a journey! When the headliner wasn't able to make it we stepped up for an extended set at the last minute. We had so much fun and the crowd danced all night - we could have played even longer!

What an absolute joy and privilege it is to play for an outstanding outfit like Goodgreef. The whole club was bouncing from top to bottom for their annual Mad Friday knees up in Newcastle. The upstairs room was pure class and Alan and I had to bring our 'A' game for our B2B set.  
A cracking night was had by all accounts. Our mix went through all the gears to make sure it raced up the ramp!

SHADES January 2023

Hey hey! It's been a little while. Here is my live set from Transonic in Newcastle on 13th May. What an absolutely brilliant night and it was an honour to play the closing set for their 4th birthday. There was only one way to go - rockets and big guns and with a quick pace all the way. Watch out for the obligatory 'one more tune' (or maybe two more?!) at the end. Massive.

Live @ Korona Club - 19-08-1999

Here is my second show for Saturo Sounds. This month it's all about the melody and I'm really happy with how it turned out. This is exactly the sort of music I play at my residency for Progress:ON in Newcastle. A journey through sound with music that tells a story and has emotion. Sit back close your eyes and enjoy! 
For more of the same, get down to Colonel Porters in Newcastle on March 14th where me, Alan and Sophie will be joined by some outstanding guests. Richard Tulip is playing a very special progressive classics set (think mid 90's epic Sasha / BT). Fuenka are one of the hottest properties in the Progressive scene right now and have upcoming gigs at Luminosity Beach Festival and Miami Music Conference - we're honoured and lucky to have them play for us.

Hey! During lockdown I did something little different to my usual progressive style and went back to my roots for a couple of Sunday afternoon streams from my living room. A few people asked me for a recording, so I'm going to release these in two parts. 
Back in the early 2000's my bread and butter was HARD TRANCE! Each week I went to a fantastic night club called Foundation in Newcastle Upon Tyne to the most amazing club night PROMISE. These mixes is are little taste of the harder, banging, uplifting end of the spectrum that we savoured week in week out. He's been DJ’ing for over 25 years and as well as Promise you can catch him playing for parties like Progress:ON, Goodgreef and Dave Pearce’s Trance Anthems. You'll also hear him every month on Saturo Sounds with his radio show, SHADES and also on Method Radio with his new show, BLOOM. 
This year Promise had a new beginning and we expect to see lots more of Phil alongside some exciting bookings as it cements its position back on the Newcastle club scene.
