The song questions why satanic symbols are all over the American dollar, Government and Corporate logo's, Also how the evil people who put them there will send their own people to die and kill others without a single thought other than for oil, money and power.

Amazing that this song was first written and recorded 40 years ago as a warning of things to come. However, it could have easily have been written this very morning looking at what is happening around the world at this very moment and still guided by the same wicked hands.

Unfortunately, I do not think that people will wake up until they hear the fat Lady sing.

How Presidents, heads of State and other psychopaths have elevated themselves to such a position where they actually think they are Gods, however, "God" is simply short for "Good" just as "Devil" is simply long for "Evil" Good people do not go around murdering and mutilating millions of people and destroying the planet with a swish of a pen. So-called elitists and their minions should be warned that a special place in hell awaits them upon your their own inevitable demise.

08. The Presidents Men.

The remaining 300 people manage to escape in spacecraft from a burning planet, what was once a beautiful place with everything need to sustain life of every kind was now just a burning mass of molten lava destroyed by greedy evil politicians and their armies.

After many years travelling through deep space they finally sight a new planet fit for human habitation, will they make the same catastrophic mistakes again? the answer may be in found in the song itself. 

This six minute epic was always the last song to be played at every live concert "The Ride Band" ever played, it was also the first song I ever wrote circa !968 making it 54 years old.

The power which the leaders craved was a dream which could not be erased and as we looked back we could see the flames go higher, higher higher, a world on fire, a world on fire.

It seemed to be a thousand years we travelled empty space, and there appeared a site for which we prayed, a planet clad in liquid blue, green scarf around her waste, gold worth more than twice the price we'd payed,  will you tell me my friend is there ever an end? like the snow falling down, only to melt on the ground.

Far far away from the eyes of the rich people a heroin addict wakes up, the church bells hammering inside his head seem to never stop and he feels the devil hard on his heels, he staggers into the kitchen and assembles the tools of his only trade and lights the gas ring, I'll be OK in and them fucking bells will stop few minutes he thought to himself.

Tribute to one of the Ride's roadie's big Mick Diff a good mate who knew that he was going down but fought the last round anyway.

The story behind 'Deadly Nightshade'

Around about the same time every month John's girlfriend Emma went away and it was usually overnight,  not being the jealous type John had thought little of it until he realized it was always around the same time of the month, It's just a coincidence' he thought ......until he also realized it was always on a full moon.

He had kept his car at a good distance along the M6 motorway until she eventually took the slip road, Junc. 18 Middlewich (A54) the sign had read, he then followed for around 10 miles until she had turned off onto a narrow country lane where an old battered sign said B5152, the only other light on this road apart from that of the moon were Emma's tail lights way in the distance, after a few miles she had then turned left on to a single track lane which was little more than a footpath, No Through Road declared the signpost and it was at this point John decided to park up at the end of the track and follow on foot.

He could see her car had now come to a stop, when she turned off the engine a silence fell like a blanket, she had then turned off the cars lights and got out of the car , the car door slamming was like a shotgun in this desolate place and had made him jump, she then disappeared into the yawning forest and he followed her, the footpath she had taken was barely vi sable and sometimes he would have to part branches to continue on and it was at that point a thought had occurred to him.... by now he was clearly lost but Emma seemed to somehow know exactly where she was going.

10. Sunshine. (Reprive)

Civilisation is a track from the "The Ride Band's" album "Stranger Than Fiction", First released in 1983. Over forty years later, here we are,  the same old crap is going on all over the world. Same old story, same old song eh? Will we ever learn to live as a peaceful civilisation? Don't hold your breath folks.

Is this song wrote about a woman or a cat......or both?

This Cat and "Amazing Maze" were the last proper recordings the Ride ever did and financed by a business called 'Roy Donnely Seafoods!!!' The final line up was: Phil Platt, Steve Ridgway, Lennie Zakson, Steve Stephen Tansley and Loz Greene.

The amazing 4 part brass section was written and scored out by Lennie and played in one take by Lennie and three members of Manchester's "Halle Orchestra" all reading from the scores Lennie had written out beforehand. It was amazing to watch and it only took them about half an hour!

At the time I remember and intense feeling of pride watching and working with musicians of such a high calibre putting the song together, especially as it was originally just a daft ditty written one hungover morning whilst watching our cat “Fido” rule over her roost.

1. The Ride was a band gigging around the UK during 1980/90's they recorded 3 albums and 2 singles all original material written by Phil Platt and released on vinyl. Currently in the process of archiving and uploading the band's back catalogue to SoundCloud.

2: "The Diesel Brothers" is a live band who do their own versions of various big hits from the 70's up to present day. 

3. "Still Stones" is a "Rolling Stones" music only tribute band so we try to capture the raw Stones style rather than try to look like them (Who can look like the Stones anyway?)  :-D

4 "Tin Of Snakes" is a studio-only project of all my new songs, once finished I am hoping to take it out live.
